This pinot just absolutely hums with energy. As detailed as it is delicious, it’s elegant, expressive and purely Yarra Valley - think red currant, strawberry and cherry pie, all wrapped in super-fine tannins and tasteful French oak. A Yarra drinker's dream.

Why do we love this wine?

This is a Yarra Valley pinot with the precise prettiness that we've all come to expect from - huge call incoming - Australia's greatest pinot region - please send all complaints to team@vinomofo.com . Grown in Gruyere, from the ever-popular MV6 clone, and matured for 10 months in French oak, it’s a wine that nails the balance between purity and complexity. The nose is singing - raspberry, cherry, poached rhubarb and a cool note of spearmint, with oak spice drifting through. The palate is built, built on bright acidity and soft, powdery tannins. Red currants, hibiscus and baked cherry pie. It’s layered, lifted and built to charm - a perfect match for mushroom gnocchi, but equally at home as the sole star of the show. You could absolutely drink now or watch it evolve over the next 5-6 years - the choice is yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Yarra Valley's cool climate and unique terroir create ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, producing wines with exceptional balance between fruit purity and complexity. This wine showcases the region's signature elegance through its precise flavour profile of raspberry, cherry and spearmint notes. The cooler temperatures allow for slower ripening, resulting in the bright acidity and refined tannin structure that makes Yarra Valley Pinot Noir highly sought after by wine enthusiasts.

This wine offers excellent drinking pleasure right now with its vibrant fruit flavours and well-integrated oak, but it's also built for medium-term cellaring. The wine's structure, bright acidity and quality French oak maturation suggest it will evolve beautifully over 5-6 years, developing more complex secondary flavours and softer tannins. The MV6 clone used is known for producing age-worthy wines that reward patient collectors with increased depth and nuance.

MV6 is one of the most respected Pinot Noir clones in Australia, originally selected from Burgundy's prestigious vineyards. This clone typically produces wines with excellent colour intensity, structured tannins and complex aromatics - all evident in this wine's profile. MV6 is particularly well-suited to the Yarra Valley's climate, contributing to the wine's ability to balance fruit purity with savoury complexity and its potential for graceful ageing.

The 10 months in French oak adds subtle spice notes and textural complexity without overwhelming the delicate Pinot Noir fruit. French oak is prized for its fine grain and restrained influence, contributing gentle vanilla and spice elements that complement rather than dominate the wine's natural cherry and raspberry flavours. This careful oak integration helps create the wine's layered character while maintaining the bright, lifted quality that makes it so approachable.

The wine's medium body and savoury complexity make it incredibly food-friendly, particularly with earthy dishes like the suggested mushroom gnocchi. The bright acidity cuts through rich, creamy sauces while the wine's cherry and spice notes complement roasted poultry, duck or salmon beautifully. Its textured palate and soft tannins also pair wonderfully with aged cheeses or charcuterie, making it versatile enough for both casual dining and special occasions.
