Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

We can’t get enough of this pinot noir from the Apple Isle - it’s got freshness, complexity, and genuine prettiness. This is Tassie to a tee - elegance with a bit of earthiness behind the red fruit profile. Brilliant, medium ruby in the glass, the nose draws you in with redcurrant, red cherries and a hint of pretty bramble perfume. Then the 100% destemmed fruit aged for 6 months (30% new oak and a selection of second to fourth-fill French oak barrels) gives way to the silkiest of palates with even more red cherry, rhubarb and a gently spiced finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tasmania's cool climate and pristine environment create ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, producing wines with exceptional elegance and complexity. The island's unique terroir allows the grape to ripen slowly, developing intense aromatics while maintaining natural acidity. This particular wine showcases the classic Tasmanian style - combining red fruit purity with subtle earthiness that reflects the island's ancient soils and maritime influence.

Destemming removes all grape stems before fermentation, which creates a cleaner, more fruit-forward wine with softer tannins. This technique is particularly important for Pinot Noir as it prevents harsh, green flavours that stems can impart to this delicate variety. The result is the silky palate texture described in this wine, allowing the pure red cherry and rhubarb flavours to shine without interference.

The 6-month oak regime using 30% new French oak with older barrels creates subtle complexity without overwhelming the delicate Pinot Noir fruit. New oak contributes gentle spice and structure, while the second to fourth-fill barrels add texture and roundness without heavy vanilla or toast flavours. This balanced approach allows the wine's natural elegance and red fruit character to remain the star while gaining depth and sophistication.

This light-bodied, elegant Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with duck, salmon, or mushroom-based dishes that complement its earthy undertones. The wine's bright acidity and red fruit profile also make it excellent with charcuterie, soft cheeses, or roasted vegetables. Its silky texture and gentle spice finish work particularly well with herbs like thyme or rosemary, making it versatile for both casual and fine dining occasions.

As a 2024 vintage, this Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully now, showcasing its fresh red fruit character and elegant structure. However, quality Tasmanian Pinot Noir often develops additional complexity over 3-5 years, with the earthy notes becoming more pronounced and the fruit evolving into more savoury, forest floor characteristics. The wine's balance suggests it will reward both immediate enjoyment and medium-term cellaring.
