Why do we love this wine?
This might just be the finest example of Coal River (TAS) Pinot that we've ever been lucky enough to stock. Even just looking at the thing gets the senses going, it's got that ethereal Pinot thing going one where it looks like it's got its own light source. Beautifully perfumed black cherry and blackberry hit the nose, with a note of dried herbs sitting just underneath. On the palate it's plush and concentrated, properly juicy, with brightness that cuts through the fruit sweetness like it's got somewhere to be. The tannins turn up late but they turn up fleshy, giving the whole thing weight and a finish that hangs around like a house guest that can't take a hint. But trust us, you wouldn't be kicking this one out of the party early.
