Yep, this is an absolute winner. From the distinctly perfumed nose, right down to the smooth, oak-draped finish, it's clear that this is a seriously high quality bottle of pinot. Red cherries, baking spice and vibrant natural acidity work in perfect harmony. A fantastic expression of Yarra Valley pinot.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Hand-picked from a single-vineyard that hasn't seen herbicides in over 10 years, this medium-bodied bombshell has blown us away with both its approachability and its complexity. 50% whole bunches and a gentle kiss of new French oak create a stage for pristine red fruit to sing on, and boy is it singing! Red cherries, ripe strawberries and just a touch of regional spice, this one's ready to go the distance. Drinking like a dream now, give it 5 years and we'll be dealing with an entirely different beast. 2 cases please, one for now, one for 2031.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine stands out through its single-vineyard sourcing from herbicide-free vines for over a decade, creating exceptionally pure fruit expression. The 50% whole bunch fermentation technique adds structural complexity and spice notes that distinguish it from conventional Pinot Noir production. Combined with its 96-point Halliday rating and Special Value Award, it represents outstanding quality that punches well above its weight class.

While delicious now with its vibrant red fruit character, this wine is designed for medium-term cellaring with a recommended drinking window extending to 2031. The combination of whole bunch fermentation and French oak provides the structural backbone needed for graceful ageing. Over the next 5-8 years, expect the primary fruit flavours to integrate with developing tertiary notes of earth, forest floor, and greater complexity.

The wine's medium body and bright acidity make it incredibly food-friendly, particularly with duck, salmon, or mushroom-based dishes that complement its earthy undertones. The red cherry and strawberry flavours pair beautifully with charcuterie and aged cheeses, while the subtle spice notes enhance dishes with herbs like thyme or rosemary. Its elegant structure also makes it suitable for vegetarian cuisine featuring roasted vegetables or truffle preparations.

Whole bunch fermentation, where 50% of grape clusters remain intact during fermentation, adds structural tannins and aromatic complexity that wouldn't develop through destemmed grapes alone. This technique introduces subtle spice notes and creates a more textured mouthfeel while preserving the wine's natural acidity. It's a hallmark of premium Pinot Noir production that requires perfectly ripe, healthy fruit - something this single vineyard clearly delivers.

A 96-point score from James Halliday represents exceptional quality, placing this wine in the top tier of Australian Pinot Noir. The accompanying Special Value Award indicates it offers outstanding quality relative to its price point, making it both a serious wine and smart purchase. Coming from a Five Star rated winery designated as an Iconic Producer, this score reflects consistent excellence and establishes the wine as benchmark quality for the Yarra Valley region.
