Adelaide pinot hardly ever goes wrong in our books, and this is an example of it going very, VERY right. Red berries, candied raspberry, ripe strawberries. Fresh, and packs a bit of zing. We'd take this on a picnic as quick as we'd take it to the grumpy in-laws'.

Why do we love this wine?

Growing pinot noir in the Adelaide Hills didn't seem like such a good idea 15 years ago, yields were low and the Hills were yet to make a real name for themselves as one of Australia's prime pinot planting places (excuse the excessive alliteration). Then something changed, and this producer was right at the forefront when it did. Wines like this forged the reputation that the Adelaide Hills now has for red hot pinot noir. And this 2024 vintage is no exception. Expect juicy, ripe strawberries and cherries up front and plentiful. The palate is slippery and smooth with a wonderful tartness due to its natural line of acidity, providing great length. When you’re in the mood, whip up a pumpkin and feta salad and splosh a generous amount of this pinot in a glass. You’re in flavour town!

Frequently Asked Questions

The Adelaide Hills has transformed from an unlikely pinot noir region to one of Australia's premier cool-climate destinations over the past 15 years. This producer was instrumental in establishing the region's reputation when others doubted its potential. The combination of elevation, cool temperatures, and diurnal temperature variation creates ideal conditions for developing pinot noir's delicate aromatics while maintaining natural acidity. What once seemed risky has become a benchmark for Australian pinot noir excellence.

This 2024 vintage showcases the textural complexity that defines quality Adelaide Hills pinot noir, with a slippery, smooth mouthfeel balanced by vibrant natural acidity. The wine demonstrates excellent fruit concentration with strawberry and cherry flavours, while the herbaceous and umami elements add savoury depth typical of cool-climate expressions. The 95-point Wine Showcase rating reflects how this vintage maintains the high standards that built the region's reputation.

Serve this medium-bodied pinot noir slightly below room temperature (around 16-18°C) to highlight its fresh fruit character and natural acidity. The wine's textural qualities and savoury elements make it perfect for dishes like pumpkin and feta salad, where the tartness complements rich, creamy textures. The herbaceous and umami notes also pair beautifully with mushroom dishes, roasted vegetables, or lighter meat preparations.

The textured, savoury style indicates this pinot noir offers more than just fruit flavours - it provides tactile complexity on the palate with layers of umami and herbaceous characteristics. This style reflects the cool-climate terroir of Adelaide Hills, where slower ripening allows development of earthy, mineral-driven elements alongside the primary fruit. The result is a wine with depth and food-friendliness that evolves beautifully in the glass.

This 2024 vintage is drinking beautifully now, showcasing the fresh fruit intensity and natural acidity that makes Adelaide Hills pinot noir so appealing in its youth. However, quality cool-climate pinot noir like this typically develops additional complexity over 3-5 years, allowing the herbaceous and savoury elements to integrate further. The wine's excellent structure and 95-point rating suggest it will reward both immediate enjoyment and short to medium-term cellaring.
