We tasted this at the office and it stopped everyone in their tracks. In a line up of about 10 Tassie pinots, this one took the cake, even beating out the 'Best Tasmamanian Red Wine of 2023'. Pinots like this don't come around all too often. Here's your chance to own something special.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This comes from a seriously well-regarded single vineyard sitting on basalt soils - the kind of terroir that gives Tassie pinot serious depth and character. Wild fermented with a portion of whole bunches, then aged in older French oak for 10 months. Just enough timber to add shape without smothering the fruit. What's in the glass is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced. Red plum and rhubarb lead the charge, backed by clove spice, floral notes and an earthy, savoury edge that keeps things interesting. The tannins are fine and integrated, the fruit layered and expressive and the finish is long and memorable. Just get this thing in your glass, that's all we can say.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tasmania's cool maritime climate and pristine environment create ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, producing wines with exceptional elegance and complexity. The island's latitude and oceanic influence result in longer ripening periods, allowing the grapes to develop intense flavours while maintaining natural acidity. This 2022 vintage showcases the textured, savoury style that Tasmanian Pinot Noir is renowned for, with a perfect balance of fruit concentration and earthy undertones.

Serve this wine slightly below room temperature at 14-16°C to highlight its textured, savoury characteristics and black cherry notes. Decanting for 30 minutes will help open up the meaty, complex flavours and allow the wine's medium body to fully express itself. Use a large-bowled Burgundy glass to concentrate the aromatics and enhance your tasting experience.

The meaty, savoury profile and black cherry notes make this Pinot Noir exceptional with duck breast, lamb rack, or mushroom-based dishes. The wine's medium body and textured mouthfeel complement earthy flavours like truffle, roasted root vegetables, or aged cheeses. For a classic pairing, try it with coq au vin or beef bourguignon, where the wine's savoury elements will harmonise beautifully with the rich, slow-cooked flavours.

The 2022 vintage in Tasmania was characterised by excellent growing conditions, with a cool, dry summer that allowed for extended hang time and optimal flavour development. This resulted in wines with great concentration and natural acidity, particularly beneficial for Pinot Noir which thrives in cooler conditions. The vintage produced wines with excellent structure and aging potential, making this bottle a great representation of Tasmania's winemaking prowess.

This medium-bodied Tasmanian Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully now but has the structure to develop further complexity over 5-8 years. The wine's natural acidity and textured tannins provide a solid foundation for aging, during which the black cherry fruit will integrate further with the savoury, meaty characteristics. Store in a cool, dark place at consistent temperature, and expect the wine to show increased earthiness and tertiary flavours as it matures.
