We get a bit excited about this one. Real pinot-heads of all shapes, sizes, cultures and creeds will agree on one thing: the Yarra Valley produces some bloody good pinot noir. And this is about as 'bloody good' as it gets!

Why do we love this wine?

A 96pt Halliday rating and 4.1 Vivino score confirm what we already suspected, both reviewers and punters are falling in love with this wine left, right and centre. Jump on it while you can, these never last long. 2021 was a bit of a ripper vintage, for the Yarra at least, and the result is soft yet generous pinot noir with wonderfully crisp acidity and enduring fruit. Think ripe cherries and fresh strawberries with an underlying earthiness and lingering velvety tannins. This has Yarra Valley pinot written all over it and with 4 or 5 years under its belt, this little number is raring and ready to go.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 2021 vintage was exceptional for the Yarra Valley, producing wines with perfect balance between ripeness and freshness. Cool climate conditions allowed for extended hang time, developing complex flavours while retaining the crisp acidity that Yarra Valley pinot noir is renowned for. This vintage showcases the region's ability to produce elegant, food-friendly wines that express both fruit purity and terroir-driven earthiness.

The ripe cherry and fresh strawberry notes come from optimal fruit ripeness achieved during the excellent 2021 growing season. These primary fruit flavours are complemented by the wine's underlying earthiness, which adds complexity and prevents the fruit from being one-dimensional. The medium-bodied structure and velvety tannins provide a framework that allows these flavours to evolve beautifully, creating a wine that's both immediately approachable and age-worthy.

The consistent high ratings from Halliday (96pts), Campbell Mattinson (94+pts), and Vivino users (4.1) reflect the wine's exceptional quality and broad appeal. Critics appreciate the technical excellence - perfect balance, varietal typicity, and regional expression - while consumers love its approachability and food-pairing versatility. The Halliday Special Value Award specifically recognises wines that deliver premium quality at accessible prices, making this a standout performer in its category.

This style descriptor indicates the wine has substantial mouthfeel beyond simple fruit flavours, with layers of complexity that engage the palate. The 'textured' element comes from fine tannins and good concentration, while 'savoury' refers to earthy, spicy, and mineral notes that balance the fruit sweetness. This combination makes it an excellent food wine, particularly with dishes featuring mushrooms, game, or aged cheeses where the savoury elements can complement rather than compete.

With 4-5 years of bottle age already, this wine is perfectly positioned in its drinking window and ready to enjoy immediately. The description confirms it's 'raring and ready to go', meaning the tannins have softened and the flavours have integrated beautifully. However, quality Yarra Valley pinot noir like this can continue developing for several more years, so you could cellar some bottles to experience how the earthy complexity evolves while enjoying others now.
