Mornington pinot noir is world-famous for a reason. Pristine fruit, careful earthiness and enduring natural acid, the problem - it's expensive. That's where we come in! This is all the Mornington pinot you could ever want, without the price tag. Time for us to have a taste of the good life.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Here’s the fourth vintage we've stocked of what was initially a product of covid times (we really thought this would be a one-off). This is a delicious, small-batch Mornington pinot that was meant to sit proudly on restaurant lists. With local restaurants unable to provide service, the wine needed a home and, after tasting it, we were happy to oblige. Then, once our Mofos got a taste for it, we knew we'd found a new Vinomofo staple. It’s everything you’d expect from classic Mornington, with bright fruit in the form of strawberries and sour cherries, coupled with a bit of earthiness and funk. This is a very small-batch wine - get in while you can!

Frequently Asked Questions

The Mornington Peninsula's cool maritime climate and diverse soil types create perfect conditions for elegant Pinot Noir. The region's proximity to Port Phillip Bay moderates temperatures, allowing for slow ripening that develops the bright fruit flavours and earthy complexity found in this wine. This terroir produces Pinots with the delicate balance of fruit intensity and savoury undertones that define premium Australian cool-climate expressions.

The 2021 vintage benefited from ideal growing conditions across Victoria's cool-climate regions, producing wines with excellent fruit concentration and natural acidity. This particular bottling represents the fourth vintage of what began as a COVID-era discovery, showing consistent quality that has made it a customer favourite. The vintage displays classic Mornington characteristics with perhaps more pronounced earthiness than warmer years.

This elegant style pairs beautifully with duck breast, salmon, or mushroom risotto where the wine's bright acidity and earthy funk complement rich flavours without overwhelming them. The sour cherry and wild berry notes make it excellent with charcuterie boards featuring soft cheeses and cured meats. For vegetarian options, try it with roasted beetroot salad or herb-crusted lamb where the wine's delicate tannins won't compete with subtle flavours.

Small-batch production typically means limited quantities made with hands-on winemaking techniques that allow for greater attention to detail and quality control. This wine was originally crafted for restaurant lists, indicating a focus on premium quality over mass production. The boutique producer rating and limited availability suggest careful vineyard selection and artisanal winemaking methods that create more distinctive, terroir-driven wines than large commercial operations.

Store this wine in a cool, dark place at 12-15°C and serve slightly chilled at 14-16°C to highlight its bright fruit character and elegant structure. The wine is drinking beautifully now but can develop additional complexity over the next 2-3 years with proper cellaring. Decanting isn't necessary for this style, but opening 30 minutes before serving allows the earthy funk and fruit flavours to fully express themselves.
