Mornington pinot noir is world-famous for a reason. Pristine fruit, careful earthiness and enduring natural acid, the problem - it's expensive. That's where we come in! This is all the Mornington pinot you could ever want, without the price tag. Time for us to have a taste of the good life.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Here’s the fourth vintage we've stocked of what was initially a product of covid times (we really thought this would be a one-off). This is a delicious, small-batch Mornington pinot that was meant to sit proudly on restaurant lists. With local restaurants unable to provide service, the wine needed a home and, after tasting it, we were happy to oblige. Then, once our Mofos got a taste for it, we knew we'd found a new Vinomofo staple. It’s everything you’d expect from classic Mornington, with bright fruit in the form of strawberries and sour cherries, coupled with a bit of earthiness and funk. This is a very small-batch wine - get in while you can!

Frequently Asked Questions

The Mornington Peninsula's cool maritime climate and diverse soils create perfect conditions for elegant Pinot Noir. The region's proximity to Port Phillip Bay moderates temperatures, allowing for slow ripening that preserves the delicate fruit flavours and natural acidity that Pinot Noir requires. This terroir produces wines with the bright red fruit character and earthy complexity evident in this 2021 vintage.

Light-bodied Pinot Noirs like this one are incredibly versatile with food because they won't overpower delicate dishes. The bright acidity and moderate tannins make it excellent with salmon, duck, mushroom risotto, or even lighter pork dishes. The sour cherry and wild berry notes also complement cheese platters beautifully, particularly with soft cheeses like brie or camembert.

Small-batch production allows winemakers to exercise meticulous control over every aspect of the winemaking process, from hand-selecting grapes to monitoring fermentation closely. This hands-on approach typically results in more distinctive, terroir-driven wines with greater complexity and character. The limited quantities also mean each bottle represents a more exclusive expression of the vineyard's potential.

Serve this Pinot Noir slightly chilled at 14-16°C to enhance its bright fruit character and maintain its elegant structure. Store bottles on their side in a cool, dark place away from temperature fluctuations. While this 2021 vintage is drinking beautifully now, Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noirs can develop additional complexity over 3-5 years with proper cellaring.

The earthy and funky elements provide crucial complexity that elevates this Pinot beyond simple fruit flavours. These characteristics often come from the vineyard's soil composition and winemaking techniques, adding layers of forest floor, mushroom, and subtle barnyard notes. This complexity is what distinguishes quality Pinot Noir from simpler wines, creating a more engaging and food-friendly drinking experience.
