Mornington pinot noir is world-famous for a reason. Pristine fruit, careful earthiness and enduring natural acid, the problem - it's expensive. That's where we come in! This is all the Mornington pinot you could ever want, without the price tag. Time for us to have a taste of the good life.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Here’s the third vintage we've stocked of what was initially product of covid times (we really thought this would be a one-off). This is a delicious, small-batch Mornington pinot that was meant to sit proudly on restaurant lists. With local restaurants unable to provide service, the wine needed a home and, after tasting it, we were happy to oblige. Then, once our Mofos got a taste for it, we knew we'd found a new Vinomofo staple. It’s everything you’d expect from classic Mornington, with bright fruit in the form of strawberries and sour cherries, coupled with a bit of earthiness and funk. This is a very small-batch wine - get in while you can!

Frequently Asked Questions

The Mornington Peninsula's cool maritime climate and diverse soil types create perfect conditions for elegant Pinot Noir. The region's proximity to Port Phillip Bay moderates temperatures, allowing for slow ripening that develops the bright fruit flavours and earthy complexity you'll find in this wine. This terroir produces Pinots with the delicate balance of fruit intensity and savoury undertones that Mornington is renowned for.

The 2020 vintage was exceptional for cool-climate regions like Mornington Peninsula, producing wines with concentrated flavours and excellent structure. This vintage benefited from ideal growing conditions that allowed the grapes to develop intense berry flavours while maintaining the natural acidity that gives Pinot Noir its food-friendly character. The result is a wine that perfectly captures the essence of its terroir with remarkable freshness.

This elegant, lighter-style Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with duck breast, roasted chicken, or salmon dishes where its bright acidity won't overpower delicate proteins. The wine's strawberry and cherry notes complement mushroom-based dishes, while its earthy undertones make it excellent with aged cheeses. Its light body and fresh fruit character also make it surprisingly versatile with Asian cuisine, particularly dishes with soy-based sauces.

Small-batch production means this wine was made in limited quantities with meticulous attention to detail, allowing the winemaker to carefully monitor every aspect of fermentation and aging. This hands-on approach typically results in wines with more distinctive character and complexity compared to mass-produced alternatives. The limited production also means each bottle represents a unique expression of the vineyard and vintage, making it a more exclusive experience.

Serve this Pinot Noir slightly chilled at 14-16°C to enhance its bright fruit flavours and maintain its elegant structure. Store bottles on their side in a cool, dark place away from temperature fluctuations - a wine fridge or cellar is ideal. While this wine is drinking beautifully now, its quality suggests it could develop additional complexity over the next 3-5 years if stored properly.
