From the undisputed masters of BIG reds in the King Valley, this wine isn't mucking around. An Australian take on a French classic; rich, deeply coloured, powerful and plush with a smooth finish and soft tannins. We get a lot of requests for straight petit verdot. For those that asked, you're welcome. For those that didn't, you can thank us after you try it.

Why do we love this wine?

To put it simply, they can't get petit verdot ripe enough in Europe. In the 'Old World', petit verdot is known purely as a blending grape, it adds power, colour, tannin and flavour, basically all the good stuff. Well, some time in the 1830's or 1840's someone realised that, because of our climate, we can fully ripen this beautiful grape in Australia, so the straight varietal petit verdot wine was born. A naturally full-bodied wine with beautifully floral notes and dense dark plum on the palate. 18 months in French oak barriques adds to the complexity and power of the wine and round out an already smooth and rich palate. This is a wine that will go for a very long time in the cellar, fine-grained tannin, pure fruit and a good whack of oak, all underpinned by wonderfully structural, natural acid - the Australian palate's dream.
