Why do we love this wine?
On the nose it's blackberry, dark plum and black cherry, lifted by violet and cracked pepper, with dark chocolate and a quiet thread of spice sitting underneath. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with velvety tannins and brightness that's kept in check rather than dominating, giving it a generous, rounded feel all the way through. Ripe dark fruit carries through, layered with mocha, liquorice and a savoury oak edge. The finish is long, spicy, yet smooth. Easy-drinking enough for a random school night, serious enough for the 'wines that matter' list.
