This is Barossa shiraz in full turbo mode. From an absolutely classic Barossa vintage, this is fruit-driven but beautifully structured shiraz with real depth and confidence. In short, this is a big, serious wine - handled with a steady hand. A must-have for all Barossa-heads.

Why do we love this wine?

The nose is completely stacked - blackcurrant, olive, smoked meat and toasted almond straight out of the gate, with layers of complexity that keep unfolding the longer you sit with it. It’s bold and concentrated, but never clumsy. On the palate, it’s all power wrapped in polish. Dense, dark fruit flows smoothly across the tongue, backed by bright acidity and fine, chalky tannins that give it shape and serious staying power. Plum, spice and savoury detail carry through to a long, focused finish that just keeps going. Experts are saying that this will drink well until 2041... in wine speak, that just means that this thing will last for as long as you can keep it safe and sound!

Frequently Asked Questions

The combination of concentrated dark fruit, bright acidity, and fine chalky tannins creates the perfect structural foundation for extended ageing. These tannins will gradually soften over time while the wine's complexity deepens, allowing the savoury elements and spice notes to integrate beautifully. The expert prediction of drinking well until 2041 reflects the wine's exceptional balance and the old vine fruit's natural concentration that provides longevity.

Old vines produce smaller yields of intensely concentrated grapes, which explains the wine's remarkable depth and layered complexity. These mature root systems access deeper soil nutrients and water sources, contributing to the wine's mineral backbone and the distinctive chalky tannin structure. The result is a more nuanced flavour profile with greater intensity and the kind of sophisticated balance that only comes from decades-old vineyard sites.

The wine's bold concentration and savoury complexity make it ideal for rich, protein-heavy dishes like slow-cooked lamb shoulder or grilled ribeye steak. The smoky, meaty notes in the wine's profile pair beautifully with barbecued meats or dishes featuring roasted bone marrow. For cheese pairings, aged hard cheeses like vintage cheddar or aged gouda will complement the wine's tannic structure and concentrated fruit flavours.

Single vineyard wines express the unique terroir characteristics of one specific site, resulting in a more focused and distinctive flavour profile. This designation means every grape comes from the same soil type, microclimate, and elevation, creating greater consistency and authenticity in the wine's expression. The Barossa Ridge location likely contributes specific mineral qualities and climatic influences that shape the wine's distinctive combination of power and elegance.

A 96-point rating places this wine in the 'outstanding' category, indicating exceptional quality that stands well above typical commercial releases. Wine Orbit's high score reflects the wine's remarkable complexity, structural integrity, and ageing potential that experts recognise as benchmark quality for Australian Shiraz. This rating suggests the wine represents exceptional value and craftsmanship, particularly impressive for a boutique producer competing against established premium labels.
