This Barolo Riserva Gramolere, without the wait. This is what Barolo is for, ageing. A prestigious gem that's only produced in exceptional vintages when the fruit quality justifies the effort and patience required. Oh, and it's been carefully, professionally aged for 3 decades.

Why do we love this wine?

The commitment here is extraordinary - this Barolo Riserva isn't released until approximately 7 years after harvest, allowing time for the wine to develop the complexity and elegance that defines beautiful Barolo. This time, they went a little further. This is Barolo at the point at which you're actually meant to drink Barolo - do NOT miss out!

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a museum release that demonstrates the extraordinary aging potential of quality Nebbiolo from Piedmont. Manzone Giovanni held this wine back for decades, allowing it to develop the tertiary flavours and silky tannins that make aged Barolo so prized. The extended cellaring has transformed the wine's primary fruit into complex notes of leather, earth, and dried flowers that can only emerge with time.

Gramolere is a prestigious vineyard site in Piedmont known for producing structured, age-worthy Nebbiolo with exceptional depth. The terroir here provides the perfect combination of soil composition and microclimate that allows Nebbiolo to express its full potential. Wines from this vineyard typically show remarkable longevity and develop the classic tar and roses character that defines great Barolo.

Decant this wine 2-3 hours before serving to allow the mature flavours to fully open and any sediment to settle. Serve at cellar temperature (16-18°C) in large Burgundy glasses to concentrate the complex aromatics. The black cherry and spice notes will be most expressive when the wine has had time to breathe and warm slightly from cellar temperature.

This aged Nebbiolo pairs beautifully with rich, earthy dishes that complement its developed tannins and complex flavour profile. Think slow-braised beef with herbs, aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano, or truffle-based dishes that echo the wine's earthy undertones. The nutmeg and spice notes also make it excellent with game meats or mushroom risotto.

This 1995 Barolo is at its peak drinking window right now, which is exactly why Manzone Giovanni chose to release it as a museum wine. After nearly three decades of aging, the tannins have softened beautifully while retaining the wine's structure and complexity. While it could potentially age further, you're experiencing it at the perfect moment when power meets elegance.
