It’s back for another ripper vintage! Chianti for the New World wine-lover. Bold and supple, with heaps of saucy black cherry action.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Dusty cypress-lined gravel path tannins give just the right hint of the rustic, without taking away from the class and poise of what is a cracking vino. The acid’s there; that common theme in pretty much all Italians that guarantees food-friendliness. We're pretty sure every reviewer that has ever had a taste of this beauty was sure to stash the extra bottle in their cellar, ripe for the picking in a few years time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Chianti Classico DOCG represents the historic heartland of Chianti production in Tuscany, with stricter regulations and higher quality standards than basic Chianti. This Lornano expression showcases the classic Sangiovese grape with those distinctive dusty, cypress-lined tannins that define the region's terroir. The DOCG classification ensures traditional winemaking methods and longer ageing requirements, resulting in wines with greater complexity and cellaring potential.

Serve this medium-bodied Sangiovese at cellar temperature (16-18°C) to showcase its textured, savoury profile. The wine's natural acidity and rustic tannin structure make it exceptional with Italian cuisine - think osso buco, aged cheeses, or grilled portobello mushrooms. The blackberry and spice notes also complement herb-crusted lamb or even a rich mushroom risotto beautifully.

While delicious now, this 2019 Chianti Classico is perfectly positioned for cellaring thanks to its structured tannins and excellent vintage conditions. Sangiovese-based wines from quality producers like Lornano typically develop greater complexity over 5-10 years, with the dusty tannins softening and secondary flavours emerging. The wine's 97-point ratings suggest it has the balance and concentration to reward patient collectors.

Dual 97-point scores from both Luca Maroni and Italian Wine Guy indicate exceptional quality that places this wine in the top tier of Chianti Classico. These critics specifically focus on Italian wines, so their high ratings reflect deep expertise in Tuscan winemaking. Such scores suggest outstanding balance, complexity, and authentic expression of the Sangiovese grape and Chianti Classico terroir.

Expect a sophisticated interplay of dark fruit flavours - blackberry and blueberry - balanced by earthy, savoury elements and warming spice notes. The 'dusty cypress-lined gravel path tannins' create a distinctive textural experience that's both rustic and refined, typical of quality Sangiovese. This medium-bodied style offers enough structure for food pairing while maintaining the elegant, food-friendly acidity that defines great Italian reds.
