Pinot noir fruit off an extremely sought-after vineyard, from a 9/10 Halliday graded vintage, in the hands of a Yarra winemaking royalty... it'd be a shock if this wine turned out any different to how it did: exceptional.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

Long before Lone Star Creek began producing their own wines, they were supplying grapes to some of the Yarra's heaviest hitters. It's this intricate understanding of the land, climate and conditions that allows for the production of wines like this: Perfumed and nuanced, this is simply gorgeous. Dense red and black cherries, strawberries, toasty oak, soft tannins and a beautifully spiced finish. This is as Upper Yarra as it gets, the concentration and brightness of the fruit are one thing, the savoury spice and lingering tannin are another thing entirely. Drink now for pristine, pure Yarra pinot. Drink in 5 years for complex, savoury, earthy goodness.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Upper Yarra Valley's cool climate and elevation create ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, producing wines with exceptional concentration and brightness. Lone Star Creek's deep understanding of their terroir - gained from years of supplying grapes to premium Yarra producers - allows them to craft wines that perfectly express the region's signature balance of pristine fruit and savoury complexity. The result is a wine that captures the essence of what makes Yarra Valley Pinot Noir internationally renowned.

Serve this light-bodied Pinot Noir slightly chilled at 14-16°C to enhance its elegant aromatics and fresh fruit character. The wine's combination of red cherry fruit, earthy mushroom notes, and soft tannins makes it incredibly food-friendly - try it with roasted duck, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses. Its cranberry acidity and spiced finish also complement salmon, charcuterie, or even hearty vegetarian dishes with herbs and root vegetables.

This 2022 Pinot Noir offers two distinct drinking experiences depending on your preference. Drink it now to enjoy the pristine, pure fruit expression with vibrant cherry and strawberry flavours at their peak freshness. Alternatively, cellar it for 3-5 years to develop complex secondary characteristics - the wine will evolve to show more savoury, earthy notes while the tannins integrate further, creating a completely different but equally rewarding experience.

Toasty oak refers to the subtle vanilla, spice, and caramelised flavours imparted by oak barrels during ageing, particularly when the barrels are lightly toasted during production. In this Pinot Noir, the oak provides a gentle backdrop that enhances rather than dominates the fruit, adding complexity and structure without overwhelming the delicate cherry and strawberry characteristics. This careful oak integration is crucial for Pinot Noir, as the variety's subtle nature can easily be masked by heavy-handed oak treatment.

After years of supplying premium grapes to established Yarra Valley producers, Lone Star Creek developed an intimate knowledge of their vineyard sites and what makes exceptional fruit. This experience gave them confidence to craft their own wines, leveraging their understanding of the land, climate, and optimal growing conditions. Their background as grape suppliers means they start with exceptional raw materials and know exactly how to handle them, resulting in wines that showcase the true potential of their Upper Yarra Valley terroir.
