Why do we love this wine?
Anyone lucky enough to have spent time in Porto, in the north of Portugal, home to the namesake fortified wine, will know of the magic that is Port. This magic, embodied in a rich and sticky sweet wine isn’t replicable, although many try.
We are lucky enough to work with Kopke who are major port players, boasting a history dating back to 1638. The House of Kopke is the eldest porto wine export firm and part of the Sogevinus Group. Sogevinus has an 80% focus on tawny ports, maintaining stocks of over 100 years. Now that’s a helluvvalotta of wine!
This Tawny is a mere dip-of-the-toe into their range. It’s sweet and packed to the brim with dried fruit and caramel flavours, as well as a little nutty hint. This is the perfect wine to keep tucked away till dessert, and has been satisfying mofos the world over since the 1600s.
