Why do we love this wine?
This is what back-vintage wines are all about. In its youth this was an extremely muscular and powerful wine, through the aging process the intensity and structure have stood the test of time but the years have softened this gorgeous drop just enough to allow the fruit, oak, tannin and structure to get in line and start pulling in the same direction. We now have an harmonious, but never-the-less commanding, wine with considerable palate weight and silky mouthfeel punctuated by black fruit, cassis, violets and leather. There's a special kind of assertive elegance at play that will carry this wine through until at least 2033.

Deep garnet with vivid purple hues signals real concentration. The nose is brooding yet inviting with ripe blackberry and plum compote, cassis, crushed violet and dark chocolate, lifted by subtle oak spices. On the palate it delivers plush, commanding McLaren Vale power in a silky texture. Dark fruits surge across fine velvety tannins, beautifully integrated after 36 months in new and seasoned French and American oak plus extended bottle aging. The finish is long, savoury and moreish with mocha and sweet spice. A masterclass in generous premium Shiraz fruits with power, balance and full of regional soul.
