Why do we love this wine?
There isn’t much that’s been left out of this wine; the guest list of aromas and flavours reads like an oscars afterparty. The almost impenetrable deep purple colour is an early sign that it’s a heavy hitter that’s not afraid to swing the bat. It is built to go the distance so don’t be afraid to tuck it away in the back of your cellar. If you’re looking for something very special to enjoy in 10, 20 years plus then this has got the legs if you’ve got the patience. It’s ripe red berries, toasty oak and vanilla on the nose. It evolves with some time in the glass or better still, in a decanter - so plan ahead and give it plenty of time to unfurl. Throughout the length and breadth of the palate this wine’s complexity reveals itself in waves of mint, coffee, an array of ripe berries, cassis, cigar box characters and chocolate with a dollop of double cream, just for good measure.
