Ultra high quality fruit, masterful craftsmanship and patience. Sounds pretty simple right? Wrong! This gorgeous museum-release is very much a labour of love, every detail, from the ripe red fruit of the grenache, to the earthy savoury structure of the mataro, has been carefully and deliberately nutured over 16 years. The result is as close to perfection as we've ever seen in an Aussie grenache blend.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This is a wine that's been aged delicately and deliberately. This isn't something that someone forgot about in the cellar, this isn't something that took 16 years to sell, this is something that has been dutifully stored and tasted at every step of the journey. Finally, the good folk at this big name winery have decided that this wine is primed and ready to release into the world, and we're absolutely in awe. Dried red currants and raspberries, savoury earthy notes and an enduring structure built on pillowy tannins and (still) bright acid. It's not every day that you get a chance to try a museum-release GM blend from one of the biggest names in the Australian wine world. Jump in while you can though, the beautiful thing about wine is that once it's gone, it's gone forever. Don't miss out!

Frequently Asked Questions

Museum releases represent the pinnacle of winemaking patience and expertise. This wine has been carefully monitored and aged for over a decade by one of Australia's most respected producers, who determined it had reached optimal drinking condition. Unlike wines that simply sit forgotten, museum releases are actively curated treasures that showcase how premium Grenache blends can develop extraordinary complexity and refinement with proper cellaring.

Eden Valley's high altitude and cool climate create ideal conditions for Grenache to retain vibrant acidity while developing complex flavours. The region's diurnal temperature variation allows the grapes to ripen slowly, building the structured tannins and concentrated fruit character evident in this wine. This terroir produces Grenache blends with remarkable longevity, explaining why this 2009 vintage has aged so gracefully.

The wine's combination of dried red fruit, earthy notes, and pillowy tannins makes it incredibly food-friendly. Try it with slow-cooked lamb with herbs, aged hard cheeses, or Mediterranean dishes featuring roasted vegetables and olive tapenade. The bright acidity and spice notes also complement charcuterie boards and dishes with paprika or fennel.

Serve this wine at 16-18°C to showcase its complex aromatics and silky texture. Decant for 30-60 minutes to allow the mature flavours to fully express themselves. If storing additional bottles, keep them in a cool, dark place lying on their side. Given its museum release status and current drinking window, this wine is ready to enjoy now but could continue developing for several more years.

A 4.3 Vivino rating places this wine in the top tier of user-rated wines globally, indicating exceptional quality and drinking experience. This score, combined with its iconic producer status and museum release designation, suggests the wine delivers outstanding value and complexity. Such high ratings for aged Grenache blends are relatively rare, reflecting the skill required to produce wines that improve significantly with extended cellaring.
