These vines have been growing unirrigated in Clarendon since the early 1960s, and the fruit they produce has a concentration and complexity that younger plantings simply can't replicate. Five months on skins in 1800-litre stone amphorae, followed by fifteen months of further maturation in the same vessels. No shortcuts. No compromises. What ends up in the glass is genuinely extraordinary. Raspberry, pomegranate, blood plum and wild strawberry on the nose - perfumed, detailed and completely captivating. The palate is silky and fine-boned, with sandy tannins, zippy acidity and a length that just keeps going. Delicate and powerful at the same time, which is the trick that only the very best grenache manages to pull off.
