Beaujolais that remains playful and light on the surface but has a deep undercurrent of complexity and sophistication. Fresh blue fruit and raspberry coulis lay over a sappy woodiness. The tannin is fine but grippy enough to offer a little coarseness and a lot of structure. There is a little bit of soy and umami, but this is all about the berries. The compact fruit core punches right up the middle of the palate. Electric Beaujolais that makes a damn fine case for gamay’s cellaring potential.
