Why do we love this wine?
From a family-owned McLaren Vale producer with genuine (and proud) Italian heritage and the winemaking credentials to back it up. At this price, it's an absolute steal for a wine with this much development and complexity. This one has six years of age on it now, and it's sitting in a really beautiful place. The fruit is still alive and vibrant - cherry, spicy blackberry, a warm and savoury core - but time has added something extra. A hint of leather, a gentle earthiness, and tannins that have completely shed any youthful grip and settled into something seamless and polished. That classic McLaren Vale natural acidity is the star of the show here, giving the wine a lift and energy that makes it feel far more youthful than a 2019 has any right to.
