The addition of roussanne during fermentation adds a unique brightness that lifts the dense fruit character, creating more complexity than typical single-varietal Shiraz wines.

The small splash of roussanne added during fermentation is a traditional winemaking technique used to enhance acidity and aromatics without changing the wine's varietal character. This white grape variety acts as a natural acidulant, helping to balance the rich, full-bodied nature of McLaren Vale Shiraz while adding subtle floral notes that complement the dark fruit profile.

McLaren Vale's Mediterranean climate and diverse soils create ideal conditions for producing rich, concentrated Shiraz with distinctive herbal qualities. The region's proximity to the ocean moderates temperatures, allowing for extended ripening periods that develop the complex dark berry and quince flavours found in Wild Pixie. The area's terra rossa soils contribute to the wine's mineral backbone and age-worthy structure.

The wine's herbaceous blackcurrant and dark berry compote flavours make it excellent with grilled red meats, especially lamb with rosemary or beef with herb crusts.
