Why do we love this wine?
Petrus works exclusively with Merlot, grown on a small patch of blue clay on the Pomerol plateau that doesn't exist anywhere else in quite the same way. That soil is the whole reason this producer sits where it does - wines of serious depth and richness, built with a level of finesse that's kept them among the most chased bottles on the planet for decades. The estate's history runs back to the 1700s, shaped along the way by the Loubat and Moueix families, whose stewardship turned Petrus from a Pomerol producer into the benchmark the entire region gets measured against.
