This wine has aged remarkably well. So much so that we had to double-check the vintage on the label (a couple of times). There's a vibrancy to the fruit that's seldom seen in wines of this age, particularly from Bordeaux. That said, the development and tertiary aspects of leather, tobacco, and enduring tannin are large part of what makes this wine so special.

Why do we love this wine?

Left bank Bordeaux is some of the best wine in the world. That's no overstatement, and we doubt anyone would dispute this fact. The problem with these wines is that they need time to settle into themselves and really show their true colours, also, they're usually very, very, very expensive. You guessed it, that's where we come in! We've done the aging for you, this wasn't a forgotten about wine that's been sitting in the back of a truck for 10 years - this is carefully, professionally aged Bordeaux, we've even taken care of the price for you. All you have to do is pop the cork and let yourself be transported to the old world.

Frequently Asked Questions

This wine has been professionally aged for nearly a decade, allowing the tannins to soften and the complex flavours to integrate beautifully. Left bank Bordeaux typically needs 8-15 years to reach optimal drinking condition, and this 2014 vintage has hit that sweet spot where the leather, spice, and tobacco notes have mellowed into a harmonious profile. The careful aging process means you can enjoy it immediately without the wait that usually comes with premium Bordeaux.

While this wine shares the same terroir and winemaking traditions as the prestigious Left Bank estates, it offers exceptional value without compromising on quality. The gold medal from Berlin Wine Show and 4.1 Vivino rating demonstrate its calibre. Bordeaux Supérieur designation requires stricter production standards than basic Bordeaux, including lower yields and higher minimum alcohol, resulting in more concentrated flavours at a fraction of the cost of famous châteaux.

The medium-bodied structure and savoury profile make this ideal for classic French cuisine like duck confit, lamb with herbs, or aged cheeses. The leather and tobacco notes complement grilled meats beautifully, while the spice elements pair wonderfully with mushroom-based dishes or cassoulet. The wine's textured nature also makes it excellent with charcuterie boards featuring pâtés and cured meats.

Serve at 16-18°C after decanting for 30-60 minutes to allow the mature flavours to open up fully. If storing, keep bottles on their side in a cool, dark place around 12-15°C. Given its age and development, this wine is at peak drinking now but can hold for another 3-5 years if properly stored, though the fruit characteristics will continue to evolve towards more earthy, tertiary flavours.

This describes a wine with substantial mouthfeel and complex, non-fruit driven flavours that have developed through aging. The texture comes from well-integrated tannins creating a rich, almost chewy sensation, while savoury indicates the wine has moved beyond primary fruit flavours into secondary characteristics like leather, tobacco, and spice. This style is hallmark of mature Bordeaux, offering depth and sophistication that younger wines simply cannot achieve.
