Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This is Coonawarra cabernet with the dial turned all the way up. Powerful fruit, big tannin, serious polish - everything in perfect sync. We can’t name names, but trust us when we say this is the kind of red that collectors quietly hoard by the dozen. Matured in 40% new French oak, it’s dense and deeply aromatic. Blackcurrant and boysenberry meet mint, florals and creamy vanilla, with hints of black olive, milk chocolate and smoky spice building in the background. It’s rich and structured, but never overdone; there’s a finesse to the winemaking here that can’t be faked. The finish is long, the potential is massive, and the pedigree is crystal clear. If you love serious Coonawarra cabernet, this is a must. When you see the name on the bottle, you'll understand what we mean.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coonawarra's famous terra rossa soil - a thin strip of red earth over limestone - creates ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. This unique terroir produces wines with exceptional structure and the distinctive eucalyptus-mint character that defines premium Australian Cabernet. The cool climate allows for extended ripening, developing complex flavours while maintaining natural acidity that gives these wines their renowned aging potential.

With its 96-point Halliday rating and full-bodied structure, this wine has excellent cellaring potential of 10-15 years or more. The 40% new French oak provides tannin backbone that will soften beautifully over time, while the concentrated fruit will develop secondary flavours of leather, cedar and earth. You can enjoy it now with decanting, but patience will be rewarded with greater complexity and integration.

This powerful, full-bodied Cabernet demands equally robust dishes to match its intensity. Think char-grilled ribeye, slow-braised lamb shanks, or aged hard cheeses like vintage cheddar. The wine's mint and tobacco notes complement herbs like rosemary and thyme, while its rich tannins cut through fatty meats beautifully. Avoid delicate fish or light poultry - this wine needs substance to shine.

Premium wineries often have contractual obligations with distributors or want to maintain price positioning across their range. By offering wines anonymously, producers can provide exceptional value without undermining their regular retail channels. The 'Five Red Star Halliday Rated Winery' and 'Winemaker of the Year' credentials tell you this is from a top-tier producer - the quality speaks for itself regardless of the label.

French oak adds structural complexity and flavour nuance that American oak cannot match. The 40% new oak proportion strikes an ideal balance - enough to contribute vanilla, spice and tannin structure without overwhelming the fruit character. French oak's tighter grain releases compounds more slowly, creating subtle integration of wood and wine. The remaining 60% older oak allows the Coonawarra fruit expression to shine through while adding textural depth.
