Why do we love this wine?

This pan-South Aussie producer is fast becoming a mofo favourite across their delicious red and white wines. They seek out parcels of quality grapes in Barossa, McLaren and in this case the maritime region of Langhorne Creek. Their wines are made to a high-standard across the range and are reliably delicious. This cabernet shows off a perfumed nose of flowers, juicy plums and dried herbs, followed by a medium-bodied, ripe and textured palate. There’s a gentle earthiness in the wine that is wrapped in blackberries and a lingering olive tapenade finish.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.

Frequently Asked Questions

Langhorne Creek's maritime climate provides the perfect conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, with cooling breezes from Lake Alexandrina moderating temperatures during ripening. This coastal influence helps retain natural acidity while allowing full flavour development, resulting in wines with excellent structure and longevity. The region's alluvial soils contribute to the wine's characteristic earthiness and mineral complexity.

The full-bodied nature and rich tannin structure make this Cabernet Sauvignon perfect for hearty dishes that can match its intensity. Think grilled lamb with rosemary, aged beef steaks, or rich pasta dishes with mushroom ragù. The wine's olive tapenade finish particularly complements Mediterranean flavours, while its blackberry fruit can handle bold spices and char-grilled meats.

By sourcing grapes from multiple premium South Australian regions like Barossa, McLaren Vale, and Langhorne Creek, this producer creates wines with greater complexity and consistency. This approach allows them to blend the best characteristics from each region - Barossa's power, McLaren Vale's elegance, and Langhorne Creek's maritime freshness. It's a modern Australian winemaking philosophy that prioritises quality fruit over single-vineyard constraints.

Serve at 16-18°C to showcase the wine's full aromatics and balanced tannins - slightly cooler than room temperature brings out the perfumed nose and fresh fruit characters. This wine can be enjoyed now but will develop additional complexity over the next 5-7 years if stored properly in a cool, dark place. Decanting for 30 minutes will help integrate the tannins and enhance the blackberry and herb aromatics.

The 90-point scores from Wine Orbit and recognition as a Five Red Star Halliday producer indicate exceptional quality and consistency. These ratings place it in the 'outstanding' category, suggesting the wine demonstrates excellent varietal character, balance, and ageing potential. The Halliday rating particularly recognises the producer's track record across their entire range, indicating this isn't a one-off success but part of a consistently high-quality portfolio.
