When it is done well (like it is here) Margs cabernet is so purely delightful. The medium-to-full body of the wine gives space for perfume and graceful aromatics, but there is still rigidity and structure. They drink well in their youth but age brilliantly.

Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

This is premium cabernet that's playing all the hits:; cassis, black cherry, bramble, pink and purple flowers and a medicinal quality to boot. The fruit is dense and driving and sitting smack dab in the centre of the wine. Those fruit characteristics are wrapped neatly in cedar and tree bark notes. Uber stylish, eternally elegant - this is a producer who knows premo cab sauv.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.

Frequently Asked Questions

Margaret River's unique maritime climate creates ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, producing wines with exceptional balance between power and elegance. This 2019 vintage showcases the region's signature style with dense fruit concentration wrapped in sophisticated cedar and bark notes. The dual 95-point ratings from respected critics Ray Jordan and Aaron Brasher confirm this wine represents the pinnacle of Australian Cabernet craftsmanship.

The 2019 vintage in Margaret River was characterised by excellent growing conditions that allowed for optimal fruit development and flavour concentration. This wine demonstrates the vintage's success with its dense, driving fruit character and perfect integration of primary fruit flavours with secondary oak influences. At four years of age, it's hitting its stride while retaining excellent ageing potential for the next decade.

Serve this wine at 16-18°C to showcase its complex aromatics and medium-bodied structure. The dense fruit core and cedar notes make it perfect for grilled red meats, aged cheeses, or hearty lamb dishes. The wine's textured, savoury profile also pairs beautifully with mushroom-based dishes or anything featuring herbs like rosemary and thyme.

The medicinal quality refers to subtle herbal and eucalyptus-like characteristics often found in premium Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, particularly from Margaret River. This adds complexity and a distinctive Australian character to the wine, complementing the cassis and black cherry fruit. It's a hallmark of quality Cabernet that shows terroir expression and contributes to the wine's overall sophistication and food-pairing versatility.

This premium Margaret River Cabernet is built for extended cellaring, with the structure and concentration to develop beautifully over 10-15 years from vintage. Currently drinking well with its vibrant fruit and integrated oak, it will continue to evolve, developing more complex tertiary flavours while maintaining its elegant backbone. The wine's dense fruit core and quality tannin structure suggest peak drinking will be between 2025-2030.
