We’re talking Coonawarra cabernet through and through. Plush blackcurrant core with that tell-tale eucalypt and minty lifted palate, which flows effortlessly into a chocolate and coffee finish

Why do we love this wine?

This is one of those producers that really walk and talk quality. You might think that’s an inherent product of small family businesses, but we certainly know that’s not always the case. There’s unbelievable value packed into this bottle, with no effort or attention to detail spared. A decent 40% new oak contributes to sweet, abundant tannins that really make the whole drinking experience that much more exciting. This won over more than a few hearts at the tasting bench, so we’re pretty confident in saying that you’re going to be head over heels for it too, mofo.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.

Frequently Asked Questions

Coonawarra is renowned for producing Australia's finest Cabernet Sauvignon, thanks to its unique terra rossa soil - a thin strip of red earth over limestone that provides exceptional drainage and mineral complexity. This 2019 vintage showcases the region's signature combination of intense blackcurrant fruit with distinctive herbaceous notes, creating the elegant structure that has made Coonawarra a benchmark for premium Australian Cabernet. The cool climate allows for extended ripening, developing the complex tannin structure evident in this award-winning wine.

The careful use of 40% new oak creates a perfect balance between fruit expression and structural complexity without overwhelming the wine's natural character. New oak contributes vanilla, spice, and chocolate notes while helping to polymerize the tannins, making them feel sweeter and more integrated on the palate. This level of oak treatment is considered optimal for premium Cabernet Sauvignon, providing enough wood influence to enhance the wine's aging potential while preserving the varietal's distinctive blackcurrant and herbaceous characteristics.

The triple gold medal wins across prestigious Australian wine competitions reflect this wine's exceptional quality-to-price ratio and technical excellence. Competition judges look for wines that demonstrate perfect varietal expression, balanced structure, and aging potential - all qualities this Cabernet delivers in spades. The consistency of gold medals from different judging panels indicates this isn't a fluke but rather a wine that consistently impresses professional palates with its rich fruit concentration, well-integrated oak, and polished tannin structure.

This rich, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon is perfectly suited for robust dishes that can match its intensity and tannin structure. The wine's blackcurrant fruit and chocolate notes make it ideal with grilled red meats, especially lamb or beef with herb crusts that complement the herbaceous characteristics. The substantial tannins will cut through rich, fatty foods like aged cheeses or dishes with mushroom and truffle elements, while the oak aging adds complexity that pairs beautifully with barbecued or roasted preparations.

With its full-bodied structure, quality oak treatment, and award-winning pedigree, this 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon has excellent aging potential of 8-12 years from vintage. The wine's abundant tannins and balanced acidity provide the structural backbone necessary for graceful evolution, while the Coonawarra terroir typically produces wines with remarkable longevity. As it matures, expect the herbaceous notes to integrate further, the tannins to soften, and secondary flavors of leather, tobacco, and earth to develop alongside the primary fruit characteristics.
