This is Australian Cabernet in its most premium form. From old-vines planted in the 1930s, and boasting a 96 Halliday and 97 James Suckling review, it's no stretch to say this is one's rubbing shoulders with the very best Cabs in the country. After 8 years aging, this one is entering a beautiful drinking window, but it's got at least 15 years left in the tank!

Why do we love this wine?
McLaren Vale doesn't get talked about for Cabernet the way it should. This is the site that argues the case. Elevation and mineral-driven soils give it a finer edge than the fuller, broader style the region's better known for - full-bodied, yes, but carried with real precision, the oak handled with restraint rather than dominating. A beautifully structured Cabernet with genuine power held on a tight leash. Blackcurrant and graphite lead, then slate, black tea, sage and bay leaf move through, layered with cedar, baking spice and a savoury, roasty depth that gives the whole thing real presence without tipping into sluggishness. Beautifully pitched, wonderfully expressed.
