My favourite wine so far in 2024. Utterly compelling at every turn. The earthy, animal nuance sits neatly alongside dense-yet-pretty black and red berry aromatics. This is a once in a lifetime wine - a true treasure of the cellar.

Why do we love this wine?
Halliday's 95-point review of this wine is just one sentence, which feels a little underdone for my mind. Rarely have I had the opportunity to enjoy a wine with more going on in the glass. The intricacy of the fruit at the fore gives is mesmerising - dried berries and currants pressed into richer, riper, and (incredibly, given its two decades cellar-time) fresher fruits. The gnarly earth and game aromatics chime in late as the wine is allowed to breathe, giving it a decadent and intriguing sense of decay. A magnificent wine that typifies why aged wines - and the pursuit of aged wines - is, for some, an obsession. My favourite wine so far in 2024. If you buy one wine this year, buy this.
