Why do we love this wine?

The 2021 vintage in the Eden Valley was an absolute cracker, reds flourished with deep colours and intense flavours with the resulting wines providing a great option for early consumption while also rewarding cellaring. This is a serious contender to buy up and enjoy the beautiful development of this wine over the next 10 to 15 years. A wine that'll make you happy, Mum happy, Dad happy, Grandpa and Grandma happy. It'll keep the in-laws quiet and impressed. Friends will nudge you for another glass and you'll be tempted not to mention you've got more bottles stashed away. But hey, sharing is caring. Just like us sharing this pre-release beauty with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 2021 Eden Valley vintage was exceptional due to ideal growing conditions that produced reds with remarkable depth of colour and concentrated flavours. This vintage represents a perfect balance between immediate drinkability and long-term cellaring potential. The combination of optimal weather patterns and terroir resulted in grapes that developed intense varietal character while maintaining the structural integrity needed for extended ageing.

This Shiraz has excellent cellaring potential of 10-15 years, during which it will undergo fascinating evolution. Initially showing vibrant black cherry and chocolate notes with allspice complexity, the wine will gradually develop more savoury, earthy characteristics while the tannins soften and integrate. The full-bodied structure provides the backbone necessary for this transformation, allowing secondary and tertiary flavours to emerge over time.

Old vines typically refer to grapevines that are several decades old, often 30+ years, which produce lower yields but higher quality fruit. These mature vines have extensive root systems that access deeper soil layers and water sources, creating more complex mineral profiles and concentrated flavours. The reduced grape production per vine means each berry contains more intense flavours, contributing to the wine's depth and the rich chocolate and spice notes found in this Shiraz.

Single vineyard wines showcase the unique terroir and microclimate of one specific site, rather than blending grapes from multiple locations. This Brockenchack Shiraz expresses the distinct characteristics of its Eden Valley vineyard, including soil composition, elevation, and exposure that contribute to its particular flavour profile. Single vineyard wines often display more focused, site-specific characteristics and can better reflect vintage variations, making them prized by collectors and wine enthusiasts.

The rich, full-bodied nature and flavour profile of black cherry, chocolate, and allspice make this Shiraz perfect for hearty dishes. Consider pairing with grilled red meats, slow-cooked lamb with herbs, or rich game dishes that can match the wine's intensity. The chocolate notes also complement dishes with earthy mushrooms or aged cheeses, while the spice elements work beautifully with barbecued meats or dishes featuring black pepper and rosemary.
