Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this wine?

We feel we have a weeknight ‘wine-down’ routine to recommend for you… If it’s been a long day and you feel the need to be whisked away to somewhere slightly more exotic, let us take you to Mendoza. All you have to do is twist off the top of a bottle of Bodegas Bianchi and splash yourself a glass. This is a blend of 90% malbec with a 10% dash of syrah to add lift and a broader fruit profile to flesh out more complexity. And it’s done rather impressively. Approachable and succulent flavours of plums, blackberries burst over the palate while subtle hints of dried herbs linger in the background and fine, soft tannins ensure a smooth finish to this bold and fleshy wine. Made for drinking now and in the short term, there’s no better time to pop the top off a bottle and enjoy Argentina’s finest variety.

Frequently Asked Questions

This Malbec features a 10% blend of Syrah, which adds aromatic lift and broadens the fruit profile beyond what pure Malbec typically offers. The Syrah component introduces additional spice notes and structural complexity, creating a more layered wine that showcases the best of both varietals. This blending technique is common in premium Argentine wines, where winemakers use small percentages of complementary grapes to enhance the dominant varietal's natural characteristics.

Mendoza's high altitude, intense sunlight, and dramatic temperature variations between day and night create perfect conditions for Malbec to develop deep colour and concentrated flavours. The region's desert climate with controlled irrigation from Andean snowmelt allows vintners to precisely manage vine stress, resulting in grapes with thick skins that produce the bold, fleshy character this wine displays. These conditions explain why Argentine Malbec has become recognised as superior to its French origins.

Serve this full-bodied Malbec at cellar temperature (16-18°C) to allow its rich plum and blackberry flavours to fully express themselves. The wine's approachable tannin structure means it doesn't require decanting, making it perfect for weeknight enjoyment straight from the bottle. Pair it with grilled meats, hearty pasta dishes, or aged cheeses to complement its bold, fleshy character and subtle herb notes.

This wine is crafted in a fruit-forward style designed to showcase immediate pleasure rather than long-term cellaring potential. The soft tannins and vibrant fruit flavours are at their peak now, and while the wine will remain enjoyable for 2-3 years, it won't develop the complex secondary flavours that age-worthy wines acquire over time. This approach makes it perfect for casual drinking without the need to plan years ahead.

The screw cap closure preserves the wine's fresh fruit character and prevents cork taint, which can affect up to 5% of traditionally corked wines. For a wine designed for immediate enjoyment like this Malbec, screw caps maintain the vibrant blackberry and plum flavours while ensuring consistent quality in every bottle. This modern closure also makes the wine more convenient for casual occasions, supporting the producer's vision of an approachable weeknight wine.
