Why do we love this wine?
This is sitting right in that sweet spot in its drinking window, expressing blackberry, blackcurrant and vanilla notes from time in oak. Sitting just below the surface are hints of cocoa, tobacco and licorice, making for a plush, yet savoury classic Vale shiraz. This producer is now in their second generation of custodians for their 16 hectare vineyard planted in the deep sands of McLaren Vale, and this shiraz aims to show off all that is good about that sloping vineyard. We reckon they've done a pretty cracking job, and we'll be saying our pleases and thank yous to get another glass.
