Adega Mãe Pinta Negra Reserva 2021
- Rich, full-bodied
- Lisbon
Adega Mãe are based north of the Portuguese capital of Lisbon and produce wines that punch well above their price point, with classic ripe fruit that you’d expect from Portuguese red blends balanced with a vibrant and fresh minerality.
Profile
This red blend leads with touriga franca (a critical grape varietal that you might know from its place in producing port) complimented by our good friend cabernet sauvignon. Together, they are a power couple of florality, tannin, structural acid and a whole heap of yummy black berry fruits. Then, go for 10 months in French oak and you’ve got something way more serious than you’re paying for. It’s all about Portugal, baby!
Reviews
Tully Mauritzen
“A striking balance of fruity and fresh, I was at once captivated by this wine. Portuguese wines vary widely in style, but they all have exactly that in common: style. Not often you get a dense, full-bodied red that makes you feel like you're sitting beachside in your bathers. A little chill on this would not go unwelcome, to open up those blackcurrant, black cherry characters tenfold”
Full price $32.00 from the producer.
