Why do we love this case?

We love it when the critics agree (and all of these wines have received top marks from the worlds best wine minds), but the real proof is in the broader crowd reception. Vivino allows us to gather the thoughts of the drinking many, rather than the critical few. And the consensus is well and truly in on this one: the people love it.

2x Pertaringa 'Belonging to the Hills' Shiraz 2021

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

The Pertaringa name is no stranger to the Aussie household. The iconic Hardy family are to wine what vegemite is to toast: a perfect match. So, to land this beauty from the hands of Bec Hardy is monumental for us, and we couldn't be more pleased. This is McLaren Shiraz through and through, with densely packed dark chocolate and fresh roasted coffee exploding on the nose. The palate follows through just as true, layered with preserved plums, dark forest berries and a lick of vanillin softness. There's one word for this wine, and it's awesome.

You'd pay $60 full price.

2x Sieger Estate Frederick BLK 777 Shiraz 2017

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

From the fertile plains of Barossa’s rich valley floor comes a grape of great fame. It’s illustrious deep colour could mesmerise any punter, and it’s aromas are sure to enchant even those who try to abstain it. It’s the star of the show: shiraz. Taking no prisoners on its mission to be the biggest and the best - there’s chocolate interlaced with stewed plums and a hint of dried figs. A dance of redcurrant across the mid palate dares to drive freshness home for the long, slow burning finish. Both the beauty and the beast in the glass, you’ll be enchanted all the way through.

You'd pay $50 full price.

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

If you don’t know by now, we think it’s time for you to loop yourself in. This Limited Edition shiraz comes from the best rows of their famous “War Horse” and “Ironstone” blocks. The vines are old and what they lack in quantity (yield), they make up for in superb quality. Full bodied, but balanced with pepper and spice, there are just so many layers to discover in this wine. Laden with luscious, ripe blackberries, earthy blackcurrants, mocha, hints of cedar and a dollop of liquorice, you’re in for a treat with this divine, velvety red.

You'd pay $50 full price.

2x Sorby Adams Tristan Shiraz 2021

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Having worked as the head winemaker for one of Australia's most treasured wine brands for twenty years, the creator behind this drop knows their way around a good glass of wine. The colour is as intense as the depth of flavour, and both deliver on everything they promise. The layers of blackcurrant and dark cherry meld with cocoa powder and milk chocolate nuances - a perfect prelude to the soft oak tannins that coat your mouth with every sip. There's power and length well beyond its price point, quite frankly we're not sure how we've managed to get a hold of such an incredible drop, but enjoy it while it's here Mofo.

You'd pay $36 full price.

2x Pirathon Silver Shiraz 2019

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

You’ll know this winery the second you get an eye on the bottles, and for good reason. This producer has been at the fore of producing those styles Aussies love from reds out of the valley. Dark fruits such as plums and blackberries step forward and there’s plenty of secondary notes such as cedar, pastille and chocolate. If Barossa shiraz is your jam (but not too jammy of course), then you can turn to this number to give you the happiness you seek.

You'd pay $32 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Unlike traditional wine critics who represent individual expert opinions, Vivino aggregates ratings from thousands of everyday wine drinkers worldwide. This collection showcases wines with 4+ star Vivino ratings, meaning they've achieved exceptional scores from the broader wine community rather than just professional critics. The platform democratises wine evaluation by capturing the collective palate preferences of real consumers who actually purchase and drink these wines regularly.

This curated selection demonstrates how exceptional Shiraz can emerge from different Australian wine regions and vintage conditions, each expressing unique terroir characteristics. The variety allows you to explore how factors like climate, soil, and winemaking philosophy influence the final product while maintaining consistently high quality standards. It's an educational journey through Australia's diverse Shiraz landscape, showing that excellence isn't limited to one specific region or year.

These wines showcase the classic Australian Shiraz profile with intense dark fruit flavours like blackberry, plum, and black cherry, complemented by rich chocolate and mocha notes. The full-bodied nature means you'll experience substantial tannins and concentrated flavours, while spice elements like allspice and liquorice add complexity. The woody characteristics suggest careful oak integration, creating wines that are both powerful and sophisticated, perfect for hearty meals or contemplative sipping.

While professional critics like Ken Gargett and Wine Orbit have awarded these wines scores of 94-96 points, the Vivino ratings represent thousands of consumer opinions, creating a more democratic assessment. This dual validation is particularly valuable because it confirms these wines appeal to both expert palates and everyday drinkers. The convergence of professional and crowd-sourced praise suggests these Shiraz wines achieve that rare balance of technical excellence and broad appeal.

This lineup brings together established names like Pirramimma alongside boutique producers like Ulithorne and Sieger Estate, showcasing the depth of Australian Shiraz excellence. Each producer brings their own winemaking philosophy and regional expression, from Adelaide Hills to other premium Australian wine regions. The collection demonstrates that outstanding Shiraz isn't monopolised by large commercial wineries - smaller, passionate producers are creating wines that rival the industry's biggest names.
