Why do we love this case?

We love it when the critics agree (and all of these wines have received top marks from the worlds best wine minds), but the real proof is in the broader crowd reception. Vivino allows us to gather the thoughts of the drinking many, rather than the critical few. And the consensus is well and truly in on this one: the people love it.

2x Brothers At War Pendee Farm Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

This isn’t our first rodeo with this particular house of Barossa legends. In fact, it's not even the first time we've cleared out a whole vintage from them because we've loved the wine so much. The Pendee Farm is a special cuvée, an homage to the old planted vineyards that represent quintessential Barossa. It’s hard working, relentlessly giving, and concentrates all its goodness in small, powerful doses. If you’re like us, you can taste Barossa shiraz when you hear it mentioned, but this is not like the rest. Begging to be drunk and enjoyed now or for a number of years to come.

You'd pay $50 full price.

2x Z Wines Hedley Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

We have a lot to say about this wine, but nothing will quite compare to getting it in your glass and going for the first sip. You know how they say less is more? We’re just going to say it simply: there’s nothing you won’t love here.
Deep purple colour and even deeper flavour. The oak isn’t the commanding element, but it has a presence that cannot be ignored. You will never go wrong with a glass of shiraz like this. We will warn you, this wine comes with a side-effect - smugness. You won't be able to help yourself from gloating to all who share a glass about how cheap you got it for. Other than that, get stuck in, this is good gear.

You'd pay $35 full price.

2x Bethany Wines First Village Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

This is Barossa in a bottle. Big, dark, oaky, spiced BUT, here's the best part, elegant smooth, silky, even pretty. A wine for shiraz drinkers of any style - this one's got you covered. In part, the fruit is taken from old vines in the Barossa planted back in the 1850’s and tended by the same family for the last 40 years. I’d say they know what they are doing at this stage. This is pure Barossa, but with an attractive approachability in youth. If you want to lay it down for 10+ years, go for it. But if you’re the impatient sort, you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful drop from the get go. It features red and blue fruits, fine tannins and a deep colour. We don’t need to overthink it here. If you love shiraz, from anywhere in the world, you’ll love this.

You'd pay $35 full price.

2x Hollick Red Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Estate fruit from the famed Hollick vineyards in Coonawarra, this is cab sauv like Aussies know and love. Certainly, a little bit of age behind this number has helped to fill out the mid palate, making it rich and dense with threads of fennel and mint throughout. It's very hard not to enjoy this wine- and we're speaking from experience.

Carefully selected parcels of fruit from tried-and-tested, well-trusted, growers on both the valley floor and the hills above are painstakingly selected to create a consistent style with a focus on regionality. Frequently Asked Questions

This collection is curated based on Vivino's crowd-sourced ratings, where thousands of wine drinkers have rated each bottle 4+ stars. Unlike traditional critic-driven selections, this represents the collective palate of real wine consumers rather than just professional reviewers. The democratic approach to wine selection often reveals hidden gems that resonate with everyday drinkers, making it a more reliable indicator of wines you'll actually enjoy at home.

With vintages ranging from 2020 to 2023, these wines showcase different drinking windows that reflect their individual winemaking styles. The 2020 Hollick Cabernet Sauvignon has had more time to develop complexity and could benefit from further cellaring, while the 2023 Welland Shiraz represents youthful exuberance perfect for current consumption. The full-bodied nature of these wines generally indicates good ageing potential, though each will peak at different times depending on their specific terroir and winemaking approach.

The rich, full-bodied profile and diverse flavour spectrum from blackberry to dark chocolate makes this collection perfect for hearty winter dishes. The Shiraz-dominant selection pairs beautifully with slow-cooked lamb, beef bourguignon, or aged cheeses, while the Cabernet Sauvignon complements grilled steaks or game meats. The spice and eucalyptus notes in several wines also work wonderfully with Mediterranean herbs and barbecued meats, reflecting Australia's outdoor dining culture.

Vivino's rating system aggregates feedback from millions of wine drinkers worldwide, creating a more democratic and representative assessment than traditional critics. While professional scores reflect expert palates, Vivino ratings indicate how wines perform in real-world drinking situations with diverse food pairings and occasions. This crowd-sourced approach often identifies wines that deliver exceptional value and enjoyment, even if they don't follow conventional winemaking rules that critics might favour.

This collection showcases boutique Australian producers from various wine regions, each bringing their unique terroir expression to classic varietals. The selection includes Five Star Halliday-rated wineries and single vineyard expressions, representing the diversity of Australian winemaking from established regions to emerging areas. These smaller producers often have the flexibility to experiment with innovative techniques while maintaining traditional quality standards, resulting in wines that stand out in blind tastings and consumer ratings.
