Why do we love this case?

We all know the expression about dangling a carrot in front of someone. But what if this entire case of wine is ‘carrots’ so to speak? We’re talking about d’Arenberg after all, a star-studded McLaren Vale producer. All you can really do is dangle an even bigger carrot. So that’s what we did. You’ll get 5 bottles of The Wild Pixie shiraz, probably enough reason in itself to grab a case. But why stop there? We’ve added the ultimate carrot, a bottle of The Ironstone Pressings GSM, which is nothing short of a showstopper. All carrots, no sticks...that’s how we roll.

Each case contains the following:

d’Arenberg The Ironstone Pressings GSM 2018 - 1 bottle

McLaren Vale, SA

96pts James Suckling | 95pts The Real Review | Gold, London Wine Competition

Can we get a G? Can we get an S? can we get an M? What does it spell? THE BEST OF BLENDS! Ooft, where do we begin with this one. Rightly known as one of the icons of d’Arenberg, and McLaren Vale itself. The love is apparent in every drop here, with care taken in each individual parcel to ensure quality. Good ol’ foot-treading and basket pressing gives this wine rustic power from the extraction of all the morsels of goodness. There’s a light side from the floral bouquet, awash with notes of orange, mulberry, and redcurrant. But then the palate delivers the power and ageing potential that you really crave- one of those moments you can savour forever. Or, at least until the bottle’s gone.

d’Arenberg The Wild Pixie Shiraz 2018 - 5 bottles

McLaren Vale, SA

97pts Winestate | Medal, Winestate ‘World’s greatest Shiraz Challenge’

An internationally award-winning shiraz. Yep, we can wax lyrical about this wine and its prestige. However, we really love it for the idiosyncratic leap it takes out of the glass, enveloping you with a whirl of aromas. Shiraz made in this way, elevates from the stereotype.  Think of it as classic McLaren Vale shiraz, that threw on a very inviting perfume. How does that happen? Well, there’s an old-school French winemaking technique at play here. Done with so much deftness, it heightens the aromatics beyond ‘just another shiraz’ to a place of pure enticement. Inky in colour, it’s rich, yet far from heavy, this slinky shiraz moves to reveal dark berry fruits, a hint of liquorice and classic mouth puckering tannins.
