Why do we love this case?
Why settle for one upgrade when you can have two? This case is already off to a cracking start with four bottles of Clarendon Hills Domaine Clarendon Shiraz 2009, bringing serious bottle age and pedigree to the party.
But we're not stopping there. We've added a Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Shiraz 2018 and a Sandown Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 as your two premium upgrades. That's a seriously impressive collection of mature South Australian reds from one of the country's most celebrated producers.
Three wines, six bottles and two standout upgrades. Now that's how you take a good thing and make it even better, Mofo.
1x Clarendon Hills Sandown Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
McLaren Vale — Australia
McLaren Vale doesn't get talked about for Cabernet the way it should. This vineyard is the only testament to that you'll ever need. Elevation and mineral-driven soils give it a finer edge than the fuller, broader style the region's better known for - full-bodied, yes, but carried with real precision, the oak handled with restraint rather than dominating. A beautifully structured Cabernet with genuine power held on a tight leash. Blackcurrant and graphite lead, then slate, black tea, sage and bay leaf move through, layered with cedar, baking spice and a savoury, roasty depth that gives the whole thing real presence without tipping into sluggishness. Beautifully pitched, wonderfully expressed.
You'd pay $120 full price.

1x Clarendon Hills Onkaparinga Shiraz 2018

We don't say this often. This producer is genuinely one of the best in the country, arguably one of the best anywhere Shiraz gets made. That's not just our words, Robert Parker called them, "one of planet earth's greatest winemakers". Developed, complex, smooth... This is one for people who take their Shiraz seriously. Get your nose in and it's an immediate gift for your senses - black cherry, blueberry and tangy currant, tangled up with crushed rose petal, peppercorn and olive tapenade, plus that distinctly McLaren Vale smoky, meaty undertone running underneath. Layered, savoury, hard to look away from. The palate is a different kind of statement entirely, leather, ripe dark fruit, tobacco notes and an otherworldly velvety mouthfeel, yet, there's real structure here. Time has done its job here. The edges have softened, everything's settled into place, and this is drinking exactly how it was always intended - developed, harmonious, deep. Very few Shiraz in the country are sitting at this stage of their life right now. This is a great opportunity.

4x Clarendon Hills Domaine Clarendon Shiraz 2009
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
Premium, masterfully-made Shiraz, from the highest altitude vineyard in The Vale (and one of the world's greatest winemakers). It’s lifted, savoury, and finely structured, but there's grunt here too. A full-bodied, oak-matured Shiraz that’s all about power, detail and complexity. Aged to absolute perfection. A collector's dream.
You'd pay $55 full price.
