Don't worry, try one of these

Why do we love this case?

Handpicked, basket pressed, whole bunch, wild yeasts, barrel matured. You don't need to know all the technical jargon about what any of that means, but you do need to understand that the Red Art shiraz is a carefully curated wine. Every vintage tells an enthusiastic story of the vineyard: the trials and triumphs overcome year after year. And yet, the consistency is remarkable; the quality impeccable. Strap in mofo, this is a journey of a case.

1x Rojomoma Red Art Shiraz 2011

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

No doubt, 2011 was a tough vintage for Australia. You can almost guarantee that any wines of this vintage were treated with love and care to get them out the other side. It's time we lift the taboo on this vintage. These wines have (literally) survived the worst to make it to this point, and they're coming out the other side fighting. A real underdog story: quietly achieving in the background, rounding out its edges and developing in complexity. There's a smokey cured meat element, a bit of salted liquorice and stewed plums bringing the sweet edges. Without a doubt, this outperformed expectations across the board. We crown thee, shiraz champion!

You'd pay $80 full price.

1x Rojomoma Red Art Shiraz 2012

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

2012 will no doubt go down in the Barossa history books as one of the best vintages in the last two decades. Rivalling 1998 and 2002- it was one of those 'hard to make bad wine' vintages. You can expect most shiraz in this vintage to be concentrated and aromatically intense, and this Red Art delivers on that promise. Over a decade old, and still representing youth and vigour. Blackcurrants and tobacco leaf, maraschino cherry and violets are just some of the delightful notes we excitedly jotted down as the layers unfurled before us. This is a joy to drink, we just wish we had more of it around.

1x Rojomoma Red Art Shiraz 2013

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

You heard it first, reviewers have said that this wine is 'seamless', and that couldn't be more accurate. We were blown away by the complexity and pristine nature of this shiraz, even with more than a decade's age behind it. Cured meats and anise lead the experience, with a rich cocoa and tobacco spiced core. Aromas of ripe cherry and crushed blackberries waft endlessly from the glass, inviting you in for another whirl. Blink and you'll miss it, this will be gone faster than you can say 'pour me another glass'.

1x Rojomoma Red Art Shiraz 2014

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Ray Jordan said it best, this is an "opulent and lavish expression of the Barossa". A decade old, and still so young and boisterous. This is all about the high toned expressions of blackberry, blueberry, vanilla essence and freshly roasted coffee. One might say this is the perfect middle point between fruit-forward innocence and thought provoking tertiary notes. We have no doubt with all this power and precision, this wine will happily serve you for another decade.

1x Rojomoma Red Art Shiraz 2016

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Sleek and smooth, the 2016 Red Art shiraz packs a whopping punch. Did someone say 96pts Decanter? That's no easy feat for a humble Barossa shiraz, but trust the humble Rojomoma to take out the prize with this outstanding vintage of their flagship. It's weighted with chocolate and anise notes, with aromas of blackberry and maraschino cherry coming to the fore for that playful edge.

1x Rojomoma Red Art Shiraz 2017

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Many might say that 2017 was an a-typical vintage for Barossa, and its success is often overshadowed by the outstanding vintages that came before and after. We're here to tell you, this is not a vintage to be overlooked. The cooler overall temperatures mean that aromatic power is unrivalled, as seen in this vintage of Rojomoma's flagship. Results speak for themselves, as this vintage takes the cake as one of the most awarded to date. Blackforest cake, licorice, violets and orane bitters will greet you with arms wide open, welcoming you to this seamless shiraz experience. Beauty and balance build a sort of tension that is hard to ignore, and impossible to forget.

You'd pay $40 full price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This vertical spans seven years (2011-2017) of Rojomoma's Red Art Shiraz, allowing you to taste how the same vineyard expresses itself across different seasons and conditions. Verticals are prized by collectors because they showcase terroir consistency while revealing subtle vintage variations - some years might emphasise the chocolate and spice notes, while others highlight the blackcurrant and tobacco elements. It's like reading chapters of the same story, each with its own character but unified by the vineyard's distinctive voice.

Wild yeast fermentation means Rojomoma relies on naturally occurring yeasts from the vineyard rather than commercial strains, creating more complex and unpredictable flavour development. This traditional approach often produces wines with greater textural depth and unique aromatics that can't be replicated with laboratory yeasts. The process takes longer and requires more skill, but results in wines with distinctive personality - explaining why you'll find such intricate notes like mushroom, tobacco, and spicebox alongside the classic Barossa chocolate and vanilla.

Barossa Valley's warm climate and ancient soils create ideal conditions for Shiraz, producing wines with intense concentration and remarkable aging potential. The region's old vine Shiraz (some over 100 years old) contributes to the complexity you taste in wines like Red Art, where traditional winemaking meets exceptional fruit quality. Barossa Shiraz is renowned globally for its ability to balance power with elegance - evident in this wine's full-bodied structure that still maintains finesse through techniques like whole bunch fermentation and careful barrel maturation.

The Trophy for Red Wine of Provenance at the National Wine Show of Australia 2017, plus 96 points from Decanter and multiple gold medals, positions this wine among Australia's elite Shiraz producers. These accolades are particularly meaningful because they recognise not just quality, but provenance - the wine's authentic expression of place and traditional winemaking. For a boutique producer like Rojomoma to achieve such recognition alongside established names demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship and vineyard quality.

Start with the youngest vintage (2017) and work backwards to appreciate how the wines have developed with age, or taste chronologically to understand vintage variation. Look for the consistent thread of dark chocolate, spice, and blackcurrant that defines Red Art's house style, while noting how elements like tobacco, mushroom, and licorice emerge differently in each year. The beauty of a vertical is discovering how the same winemaking philosophy adapts to different seasons - some vintages might show more elegance, others more power, but all should display that remarkable consistency the producer is known for.
