1x Pikes 'The Merle' Reserve Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
As a buyer, it’s no secret that I try a lot of wines. A lot will meet my expectations, a few will fall short. Even fewer get me to go back for a second swirl, followed by a third, followed by a couple more glasses. This is that wine. You won’t just enjoy this riesling, you will worship it. These producers are arguably the benchmark for Aussie riesling, and this top-of-the-line juice is getting into the territory of showing-off. Needless to say, you could hold on to this gem for another decade and reap the rewards of the cellar, your patience will guarantee rewards.
You’d pay $55 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Patrick of Coonawarra Aged Riesling 2011
White — Riesling
Coonawarra — Australia
Fewer whites age more gracefully than that of a riesling, with its naturally high acidity giving it the legs to run through the years and supporting the beautiful citrusy notes to enrich and flesh out. This stunner from a mofo fav producer has all the hallmarks of a classic aged riesling. It’s soft as a pillow. Aromatics of freshly toasted bread and an abundance of lemon butter dance over the palate. The finish sings high and bright with fleshy ripe citrus fruits, complimented by intensely nutty, saline features. There’s not many chances to try wines like these, we wouldn’t be waiting around much longer.
You’d pay $45 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Auld Family Wines Wilberforce Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Eden Valley — Australia
Oh, the purity! We know riesling is a pretty honest grape, but this one has more integrity than you can poke a stick at. How did we get here? Well, the producer took the fruit from the cooler southern end of the Eden Valley and harvested it in the evening, allowing for grapes with perfect ripeness and no stress from excessive heat. This leads to balance, purity and intensity in a finished wine. There are floral notes on the nose, a chalky and minerally texture on the palate and flavours of lime and mandarin, leading to bright acidity on the finish. This is quintessential Eden rizza, refreshing and vibrant, only weighed down by the bling of reviews.

1x Delatite Wines Estate Riesling 2021
White — Riesling
Upper Goulburn — Australia
We’re over the moon to get our hands on this small parcel of wine from one of our favourite Vic producers. The purity and freshness of High Country Victoria weaves its way through every sip. Juicy lime and stoney minerals. White flowers aromatics and stone fruit tartness. The citrus and acid profile in this wine is so diverse and interesting, there’s something new at every turn. Made with 100% wild yeasts, so there is greater complexity and a truer expression of place on offer. In fact everything about this, top to bottom, speaks to careful, considered winemaking with the end user (that’s you!) front of mind. It’s no wonder they’ve established a national reputation for excellence.

1x Ferngrove Wines Orchid Cossack Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Frankland River — Australia
An absolute treat. Riesling is my favourite varietal, so I'm picky. But I pick this one over and over again. Penetrating acidity gives way to pulpy sone fruit; peach fuzz and apricot. Grapefruit and whole lemon citrus drive the wine. 'Coolness' has been considered at every turn (the temperature kind, not the Fonz kind); the wine is picked in the early morning to guarantee the grapes are at their coolest, and the wine is fermented slowly at a low temperature to ensure freshness and brightness. The result is pure fruit expression that perfectly captures the magnificence of the Franklin River growing region.

1x Claymore Joshua Tree Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
Watervale is probably THE premier sub-region of the Clare Valley for top-notch Aussie rizza. And the fact that you can snag it for this price is nothing short of incredible. We’re talking drive, complexity, fruit purity – the works. There’s orange blossom, jasmine and a touch of mandarin oil enchanting you on the nose to start. The palate doesn’t disappoint either, with lemon zest, lime, a cool minerality and clean, slatey finish. You can cellar this one, too, no problem. It’s gotta be some of the best value in all Aussie wine.
You’d pay $24 full price.
