Why do we love this case?
Mmm. Mencia, monastrell, garnacha, tempranillo... these are the red wine varietals that have us drooling. Certain Spanish phrases often get lost in translation, but our common shared language is always through wine. Vinomofo has such a privilege of bringing many of these incredible wines to your table, so much so, we almost can’t say no to the great wine that comes across our desks. One cannot resist the urge from genius minds, hands (and palates) of winemaking Spaniards. A quick warning though - this collection of reds will have you drooling too, so crack out the manchego and the jamón and invite a bunch of friends over because this is going to get intense, real fast.
Each pack contains ONE bottle of each of the following:
1x Burgo Viejo Rioja 2021
Red — Grenache Blend
Rioja DOC — Spain
We’ve seen the range of Burgo Viejo and all of their classic Rioja tempranillos. Extensive, decadent, new American oak treatments. Crianza, reserva, gran reservas. Well, Mofo, forget everything you know about those wines and welcome to the prettiest wine in their range. Grenache and graciano come together to show off their best sides; raspberry, cherry pie, florals and graphite. The tannins aren’t shy but ready to indulge in food pairing. With that acidity and bright, fancy fruit- think along the lines of pork, fennel, and apple. This is truly the bee’s knees.
You’d pay $45 full price.

1x Bodegas Baigorri Crianza 2018
Red — Tempranillo
Rioja DOC — Spain
There's a picture that comes to mind for most familiar with the wines of Rioja: oak-bombed tempranillo. While that's not off the mark, it's a pretty one-dimensional picture of a diverse region. That's the story that Bodegas Baigorri tell so well, breathing life and generosity into their wines that pay homage to tradition in a contemporary way. Drive through the stunning landscape of Rioja's West, up the meandering trail of the Ebro River, and against the towering mountain ranges of the North you'll find Baigorri. The extra elevation adds to the brightness of their wines (read: added age-ability) and profound depth of flavour. This is the wine to change your perspective on Rioja, and it's only just coming into it's best drinking window. Enjoy for a long, long time to come.
You’d pay $75 full price.

1x Vega Escal Priorat 2017
Red — Red Blend
Priorat — Spain
“Vega Escal covers 84 acres in the west end of Priorat, in and around the famed vineyard of Gratallops. The 2017 is a blend of equal parts merlot, garnacha and cabernet sauvignon, with small amounts of cariñena and syrah, aged in both French and American barrels. It showcases flavours of blue and black fruit rounded out with notes of fresh vanilla bean and toffee. It smells of wood, but in a pleasant way, with notes of fresh tree bark and whisky. Decant it to let it open up, and serve it with grilled meats. 94 Points” – Wine & Spirits Magazine
You’d pay $46 full price.
