Why do we love this case?
If you’re a Powell & Son fan, consider this your upgrade. At the heart of the case is their rich and generous The Blend Shiraz, delivering all the depth, dark fruit and Barossa character you’d expect from this celebrated producer.
Then comes the upgrade — a bottle of Marananga Ironstone Shiraz, a premium expression that turns up the intensity with serious concentration, structure and pedigree. It’s the perfect chance to pour them side by side, discover what sets them apart, and experience two distinct levels of Powell & Son Shiraz.
1x Powell & Son Marananga Ironstone Shiraz 2023
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
You know Powell & Son. Their Barossa Shiraz 'The Blend', is the most popular we've ever sold - and if you've had it, you already understand why Dave Powell has one of the most respected names in Australian wine. This is a different conversation entirely. The Marananga Ironstone is where Powell & Son shift into another gear completely. We're going right to the top-shelf with this one! That classic Powell philosophy - traditional techniques, old concrete fermenters, basket pressing, minimal intervention - but applied to one of the most prized vineyard sites in the entire Barossa. The kind of fruit that makes even experienced winemakers stop and take notice. The result is Barossa Shiraz of extraordinary depth and presence. Dark plum, black cherry and blackberry at the core, with a richness and concentration that fills every corner of the palate and a svelte, mouth-coating tannin structure that gives it both immediate impact and serious cellaring potential. This is the style that put Australian wine on the world stage - opulent, intense and completely unique.

5x Powell & Son The Blend Shiraz 2023
Red — Shiraz
Barossa — Australia
The return of one our most-requested wines of all time. The Blend - from Australian winemaking savant Dave Powell - is a remarkable wine. Breadth, weight, rusticity, opulence - there's not a box it doesn't tick. It is a wine approaching perfection. Don't let the name fool you, this is 100% Barossa shiraz. We thought this wine was gone forever, we grieved, we healed, we moved on... and then we got a call... and not a second too late. Just when we thought Powell & Sons couldn’t impress us more, they raised the bar higher than it’s ever been before. This seems to good to be true, right? We’re pinching ourselves too: it’s not every day that you get the best sub-regions of the Barossa (Marananga playing a big part of that), with the fruit of each vineyard separately nurtured and carefully blended after 18 months ageing in French oak. The name says it all, but this isn’t just any blend: it’s the king of blends. All shiraz. All star fruit. All the best oak. All in one neat little parcel. If this doesn’t tickle your fancy, truly nothing will.
You'd pay $80 full price.
