If ever there was a grape capable of magic, it’s pinot noir. Little wonder it’s key to many of the most expensive wines in the world.

2x Journey Wines Coldstream Pinot Noir 2023
Red — Pinot Noir
Yarra Valley — Australia
Wowee, we've got an outstanding example of single-vineyard Yarra pinot on our hands here! As generous as it is sophisticated - this wine is paradoxically super easy to drink, and at the same time, next level complex. Trying to pick individual notes is like picking individual voices in a choir. And why should we? If the song sounds good, let 'em sing - and the wine is certainly singing now.

2x Twin Valleys Reserve Pinot Noir 2023
Red — Pinot Noir
Victoria — Australia
This is a really smart little wine. A lot of red fruit on display, some rich, ripe raspberry and strawberries lead into more densely laden cranberry and red cherry. The tannin is fine grain and delicate - pretty but textural and providing nice, subtle grip. While this is certifiable cool climate, it doesn't want for weight. The palate is satisfying and broad with classic cool climate acidity giving it focus and drive through a fine boned, prickly finish that lasts and lasts.

2x Spring Vale Melrose Pinot Noir 2025
Red — Pinot Noir
Tasmania — Australia
This is Tassie pinot noir at its most inviting. Young, fresh and full of energy, it’s all about letting the fruit speak and keeping everything else nicely in check. No heavy extraction. No oak overload. Just clean, vibrant pinot doing what it does best. Pour generously, and don’t be surprised when the bottle disappears quicker than planned.
You’d pay $32 full price.

2x Sorby Adams Mytikas Pinot Noir 2022
Red — Pinot Noir
Adelaide — Australia
This satisfying little pinot takes its name from the peak of Mount Olympus in Athens, where the Adelaide GI grape-grower George’s family originated - Mytikas. Funnily enough, it also means "nose", we reckon that's pretty fitting given the fragrant, vibrant style that the wines are made in. Subtle French oak sets the stage for a fresh, bright pinot displaying plum, red cherry and warming spice. The finish is as long as it is satisfying. You could drink this pinot any time, anywhere and with any one. Super yummy.

2x Austins Wines 6Ft6 Pinot Noir 2025
Red — Pinot Noir
Geelong — Australia
Geelong is, for me, the best pinot noir producing region outside of Burgundy. Not the USA's Oregon, not New Zealand's Central Otago - little old Geelong on Victoria's south coast. Fresh and inviting, this will give a lot with just a little swirl in the glass. Raspberry coulis, winter strawberry, some sweet spice, fennel, thistle. The complexity far outpaces its price tag. The wine is structured without sacrificing finesse, which means it's pretty without being thin or wussy. This is dangerous value at this price and worth stocking up because we don't anticipate we'll be able to hang onto it too for long.

2x Reschke R Series Pinot Noir 2024
Red — Pinot Noir
Limestone Coast — Australia
Cool-climate Pinot with that savoury swagger we all know and love. This is firmly in the medium-bodied camp, but there’s real shape and structure here. A short cold soak and a tidy ferment set things up nicely, before a spell in seasoned French oak adds polish without stealing the spotlight. The whole thing leans to the savoury side, with sour cherry crunch leading the charge. Fine, almost silky tannins give it a gentle grip, keeping everything neat and composed. It’s sleek, balanced and lingers just long enough to make you go back for another sip. Supper smashable, super yummy.
