Full of dark berries and herby, nutty earthines. That palate maturity is prevalent throughout. Mushroom, mocha, a bit of wet earth, smoke, and game. This is a seriously generous and complex wine. The juiciness is set against spindly tannin giving the wine wonderful texture and a well presented, long finish. This is winemaking magic, mofos.

The words 'densely fruited' rarely lead a pinot noir tasting note but, here we are: densely fruited and medium bodied (nearing full), this wine means business. Raspberry, plum, black cherry - the development of the fruit profile is something to behold. It ain't all fruit, though, there's nettle, some mascarpone, sappy twigs, vanilla, and spice to be discovered, too. All of this complexity speaks to quality, if you let this wine open up in the glass (no need to decant, but be sure to give it a little slosh about) you'll be rewarded with little pockets of curiosity unfolding before your very eyes.

This is, of course, no exception to that spirit of excellence; fresh red raspberries and pulpy cherry meat fine, slippery tannin structure. There is sappy acidity that frames the enduring finish. A brilliantly delivered wine from a master of their craft.

Alpine & King Valleys — Australia
The Twin Valleys pinot noir grabs all that Alpine and King Valley freshness and bottles it up for us to enjoy elsewhere. The lightness and the cool, bright acid line that cuts through this wine brings a satisfying bit of energy to whoever’s lucky enough to have it in their cup (me, in this instance). Winter strawberry and under ripe raspberry on the palate immediately, but there is a bit of darker, richer fruit tucked in behind it. Mulberry and bramble, and a bit of vanillin oak presence, too. A bit of whole bunch lends a slippery, suppleness to the mouthfeel and ties the wine together beautifully. A fine boned, prickly finish that lasts and lasts.

Fresh and exuberant pinot from the Limestone Coast in South Australia (home to globally famous Coonawarra). This is a fine with fun stitched in - it’s light, bright, lifted and energetic. The fruit profile sits squarely in the ‘light red’ spectrum with raspberries, winter strawberries, and cherries. This is one of those reds that, should the weather demand it, you can stick in the fridge for 40 minutes before tucking in.

Ken Gargett once said of Mt Bera's pinot that it was "amongst the best on the mainland", which is a very high praise for this humble Adelaide Hills producer. Delightfully earthy, but backed up by lifted raspberry and red cherry notes, we would absolutely have to agree that this wine offers a great deal of value in every sip.
