Why do we love this case?
Are you a fan of the hits? We sure are – that’s why we keep dishing ‘em up. And when it comes to classics, it doesn’t get much more celebrated, more tried and true, more iconic-for-a-reason than pinot, chardy, and riesling. Are you a fan of style, finesse, brightness, lift, ripping acidity, perfume, and complexity? Then this is purpose built just for you. Take a deep dive into three of the most popular grapes that have been getting wine nerds revved up for as long as there have been wine nerds to begin with!
2x Santa & D'Sas The King and I Pinot Noir 2021
Red — Pinot Noir
King Valley — Australia
This one of the best Victorian pinot’s we’ve tried this year! Not only is it from an excellent vintage, it’s from amazing vineyard up in the mountainous north-east of the state. There’s structure, but it’s backed by a silky texture - one only a dedicated pinot grower could master. Pinot like this has density, power and yet finishes with pure pinot drinking pleasure. Delicious, delightful, and damn good value.

2x Gapsted Limited Release Pinot Noir 2021
Red — Pinot Noir
King Valley — Australia
Gapsted are nestled up in Victoria’s High Country (in Gapsted, of all places), and have to be one of Australia’s leading wineries for value. Pinot is a tricky grape to grow at the best of times, and it’s all the harder when you’re working to a budget. But these guys know what they’re doing. Ripe, red berries and cherries, sizzling spice, crunchy herbs and a dash of that something magic that makes pinot the captivating mystery it is. A light lick of French oak gives it the springboard it needs to jump to life on the palate. Cracking stuff!
You’d pay $31 full price.

2x Penna Lane Skilly Valley Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
Amongst the gumtrees and sunshine of Clare, some miracles truly do happen. I will forever remember the evening I sat drinking this in the company of this particularly small producer, in which multiple vintages of this wine went down an absolute treat. There’s a reason this humble wine ranked in James Suckling’s top 100 Australian wines. This particular sub-region for which it is named imparts subtly different nuances to the wines as compared to other Clare bottles. There are bright aromas of orange blossom and cool minerality on the nose, followed by a slightly peach-and-pineapple infused finish. If this sounds like a recipe for flabbiness, think again. The acidity here is electric, leaving you pleasantly refreshed with every sip.
You’d pay $33 full price.

2x Claymore God is a DJ Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
We’d like to welcome another vintage of one of our Clare Valley favourites. When it comes to the legendary producer Claymore, I always think - come for the reds, and stay for the riesling. They have a few rieslings in their collection, all excellent examples of what Clare Valley does best. God is a DJ is their weeknight rizza and it gets more serious as you move up the range. It’s floral and sherberty on the nose with a few funky notes too. It follows with a dry and textural palate that is pithy and citric - vibrant and classic. It has a super-dry finish and my notes say “it’s pretty bloody delicious”.
You’d pay $24 full price.

2x Nannup Ridge Chardonnay 2018
White — Chardonnay
Western Australia — Australia
Full bodied chardonnay with persistent acidity from a Five Star Halliday rated winery? We can’t say no. The fruit comes off a small parcel of land sitting over granite soils just inland of iconic Margaret River. 2018 was a bumper growing season for the region - long, dry days for fruit development and cool nights to lock in acidity and freshness. Taste lemon curd and burnt meringue leading into rich stone fruit, ripe citrus, and rocky minerality. This is one for the chardy classicists - a knockout wine from a knockout vintage.
You’d pay $26 full price.

2x Siskin Chardonnay 2022
White — Chardonnay
Victoria — Australia
We know Chardonnay lovers can be a bit picky, but this will please anyone and everyone who’s lucky enough to nab a bottle. Green apple and piercing citrus mix with flinty gun smoke and roasty hazelnut for a layered and complex experience. Nashi pear and fleshy nectarine give the wine shape and fruit concentration and there is a subtle but persistent creaminess to the body. Perky acid makes for a fresh, enduring finish. Rich and generous chardonnay that punches well above its price bracket? How can you go wrong.
You’d pay $24 full price.
