Why do we love this case?

The Lucky Dip Case is back! This time with an extra chance to win even more awesome wines! This case has a potential to be a whopping $1230 RRP.

Every case contains the same 5 already wicked wines, including some of our absolute faves here at the ‘fo. More info on them below, and they’re all good things. All mofo standard - i.e. nothing we haven’t enjoyed ourselves.

Then there’s the added excitement of seeing which one of these world-beater wines you will receive as your sixth.

The 6th wine is the wildcard and could be any one of these:

An iconic Penfolds Grange 2017 worth $1000 (1 in 50 chance)

An incredible 2020 French red worth $90 (1 in 25 chance)

A 96pt 2018 McLaren Vale shiraz worth $85 (1 in 10 chance)

A 96pt 2020 Margaret River cabernet worth $75 (1 in 5 chance)

A mofo fave 2019 Clare Valley shiraz worth $65 (for the rest!)

Each box contains one of these epic wines. The odds vary, but each one is a centrepiece wine, worthy of some truly special occasions.

We should say up front: there are no returns on this - click here for case terms and conditions. As it’s a Lucky Dip, it would be unfair to other mofos running in the draw.

The easiest way to guarantee getting a bottle of Grange is to go out and buy one for yourself. If you, like me, don’t have $1000 handy, this is definitely your best (and cheapest) option! Heard enough already? Pop that case in the cart and cross your fingers and toes! Otherwise, read on for a bit more info on all those lovely wines:

1x Matahiwi Estate Holly Pinot Noir 2019

Red — Pinot Noir

Matahiwi’s ‘Holly’ range continues to grow in popularity throughout the nation, and for good reason. With a swath of rich, dark forest fruits and an aromatic lift of soft cooking spices, this is a supercharged pinot for those of you after a richer, more robust style. Ready to knock back in its youth thanks to a generous fruit profile, the wine has had a major whack of French oak prior to bottling, a good 10 months and 35% new. Couple that with a core of balanced, driving acidity and you can feel very confident to lay this down for a good 5-7 years and let those ever intriguing secondary and tertiary characteristics shine through.

You’d pay $55 full price.

1x Pirramimma Heritage Limited Edition Grenache Shiraz 2020

Red — Grenache Blend

McLaren Vale — Australia

A great vintage and some great old vines. Pirramimma selected only the best barrels for this release, one that is sourced from low-yielding old vine vineyards in McLaren Vale. There’s brightness on the nose, exhibiting rose, raspberry, pomegranate and cherry. Have a sip and you’ll find more of the same, layered upon cranberry, nutmeg, Christmas pudding and cedary oak notes. It’s rich and savoury, ready to go now, yet structured enough for years of aging.

You’d pay $50 full price.

1x Kilikanoon Golden Hillside Shiraz Cabernet 2018

Red — Shiraz Blend

Clare Valley — Australia

“It’s immediately appealing on the nose showing blackcurrant, dark plum, thyme and warm spice aromas, leading to a succulent palate offering plump mouthfeel and smooth texture. Harmonious with generous fruit intensity, finishing lingering and juicy” - Wine Orbit

This wine needs almost no introduction. Last vintage hundreds of cases sold out in record time, and once you try it, you’ll understand why. This is legendary Clare Valley shiraz cab. Black fruit and liquorice over earthy and spicy undertones, held together with a lashing of toasty oak that melds into the wine seamlessly. It’s a classic style that changes minimally from vintage to vintage, and it’s bloody great. It’s got the same supreme freshness as a feature, with depth and darkness, and just a touch of mint. There’s no questioning the impeccable quality of this wine.

You’d pay $45 full price.

1x Taltarni Vineyards Estate Shiraz 2018

Red — Shiraz

Pyrenees — Australia

You heard it here first, this wine from Taltarni is the best shiraz in the WORLD. Or at least that’s the award it has received from not just one judgement, but two. That’s some pretty consistent feedback. The Pyrenees region might be a small drop in the sea of Victorian winemaking, but the quality is consistently higher from this region of overachievers. And we think this one’s pretty spectacular. With its shades of violets and a concentrated, fruit forward nose, a little dash of mourvèdre in the blend enhances the meaty, gamey elements, and a touch of well-handled oak gives great tannic structure. Oh my, this is not just unique. It’s glorious.

You’d pay $40 full price.

1x Haselgrove Cul Stor Shiraz Cabernets 2019

Red — Shiraz Blend

McLaren Vale — Australia

It’s safe to say this wine is a ‘shoe-in’. Multiple vintages of this exact vino have rushed into our warehouse and zoomed straight back out and to your front door faster than you can say ‘shiraz blended with cab sav and a splash of cab franc’. It’s so SO popular with our thirsty mofo members. At its core, we have all the plush dark berries, plums and chocolatey goodness that you’d expect from McLaren Vale. But the blend of cabernets is what lifts this drop way above entry level, firm tannins and a liveliness on the back palate provide wonderful length and serious structure; perfect to pair with your good old fashioned Sunday roast lamb with all the trimmings.

You’d pay $40 full price.
