Why do we love this case?
The Lucky Dip Case is back! The first time we did this, we broke the internet. This time we’ve bubble-wrapped the servers because they’re in for another beating.
Every case contains the same eleven wicked wines, including some of our absolute faves here at the ‘fo. More info on them below, and they’re all good things. All mofo standard - i.e. nothing we haven’t enjoyed ourselves.

Certainly, a little bit of age behind this number has helped to fill out the mid palate, making it rich and dense with threads of fennel and mint throughout. It's very hard not to enjoy this wine- and we're speaking from experience.

Limestone Coast — Australia
The Limestone Coast’s pristine soils, cooling breezes and long ripening season make it a dream climate for cabernet - Coonawarra itself is arguably a sub-region of the Limestone Coast (we're gonna get letter about this). Here, the fruit develops both depth and freshness - rich dark berries, balanced natural acidity and firm, fine tannins that give this wine its structure and longevity. Deep purple with ruby hues, it bursts with aromas of blackcurrant, dark plum and just a flicker of black olive. The palate is generous and full-bodied, brimming with ripe black fruits and layered with subtle notes of roasted coffee. Oak maturation adds polish without ever dominating, leaving the fruit to shine through to a long, persistent finish.

Langhorne Creek — Australia
Mid-week, midnight, mid-meeting - there's no situation that's not going to be elevated by a glass of this stunner. It was basically impossible not to make outstanding wine in 2023, and you can taste the depth of flavour and fruit intensity with every sip. Deep purple and deeply delicious. This Langhorne Creek shiraz brings all the fruit and then some; dark berries, black cherries, floral spice and a lick of chocolate leap from the glass. On the palate, it’s plush and powerful, with that fruit that carries all the way through to a long, seamless finish. Balanced and bold, this is the kind of wine that just works - particularly with Italian food (thank us later).

From a little-known corner of South Australia (completely covered in ex-Grange vineyards) comes this exceptional value shiraz. It’s absolutely jam-packed with stewed fruit, chocolate and liquorice. Ripe and delicious flavour that packs a real punch is carried on the back of bright acidity, lifting blackberries, bramble, black cherry and prosciutto notes alike to a long and delectable finish. This has to be up there in terms of best value buys. Whether you’re shopping for a pantry-stocking quaffer or something to share with the family over Sunday lunch, this is a great value contender with a foot in both camps.

This cool-climate vineyard has been turning out exceptional wines since 2003, and the 2021 vintage is one of the finest yet. A long, warm ripening season has delivered fruit of incredible depth and balance, transformed here into a shiraz that’s both powerful and polished. Dense flavours of dark cherry, raspberry and a touch of white pepper flood the palate, carried on a framework of soft, velvety tannins. Eighteen months in French oak (30% new) adds subtle spice, length and texture without overwhelming the fruit’s natural vibrancy. The result is a wine that marries richness with elegance, and power with poise.

“A robust Grange from a lauded vintage, this wields sheer power with such compelling prowess. Uncompromising Grange. There are rich blackberries and plums on offer, together with brazen oak and abundant notes of blackcurrants, black cherries, charcoal, cola and hard brown spices. So fleshy and intense. Dark-chocolate and cocoa-powder aromas and flavors here, too. The tannins are polished and long, extruding deep into the finish and holding endlessly. “A much-awaited vintage that fulfils expectations and then some. It has all the elements that you come to expect but still you have to sit back and marvel that so much can be going on inside one wine. Firstly, it simply ain’t Grange unless it is wearing its traditional American oak coat, and this iteration isn’t going to shy away from that. But perhaps it is the generosity across the board of South Australia’s 2018 vintage that gathers in 18 months of barrel maturation, puts shape to its broad-shouldered dark fruits, turns oak notes into chocolate and sarsaparilla characters on one side of the brain and beef and mushroom braise in the other. All in all, it is a fabulous balance of inputs: big fruit, classically prominent oak, all its structural tannins and acidity fitting cleverly into one exceptionally complex and engaging being. There is no mistaking a St Hallett classic - when it comes to shiraz, and when it comes to Barossa, they don't muck about. The Sacred Ground is an old favourite among the 'big and bold' faithful, and this iteration is no departure from that well earned reputation. Rich, ripe, chocolate, earthy and opulent. Little hints of cedar and tobacco sit deftly around determined, full throttle fruit density. St Hallett at their best - unashamedly broad and imposing while remaining stylish, complex, and relinquishing no ground when it comes to sophistication.

In the glass, the colour is a deep crimson red and there’s lifted aromas of plum, pepper, vanilla and dark chocolate. The palate is full and generous with dark fruits, interwoven spice and savoury tannins. With Angela Miranda at the helm of the winemaking, this is one well made wine. There's a good dose of American oak in the ageing regime on this, adding a touch of coconut and further vanilla to the wine. It’s ready to go with a big ole’ steak right now or will happily nap in your cellar for 15 years. This big boy is here for you now and in the future.
