Why do we love this case?

The Lucky Dip Case is back! The first time we did this, we broke the internet. This time we’ve bubble-wrapped the servers because they’re in for another beating.

Every case contains the same eleven wicked wines, including some of our absolute faves here at the ‘fo. More info on them below, and they’re all good things. All mofo standard - i.e. nothing we haven’t enjoyed ourselves.

Then there’s the added excitement of seeing which one of these world-beater wines you will receive as your twelfth.

The twelfth wine is the wildcard and could be any one of these:

An iconic Penfolds Grange 2018 worth $1000 - (1 in 100 chance)

Chateau Yaldara 1847 Grand Pappy's Shiraz 2021 worth $320 - (1 in 10 chance)

St Hallet Sacred Ground Shiraz 2022 worth $95 - (1 in 25 chance)

Ivyburn Regional Series Barossa Shiraz 2021 worth $65 - (at a minimum!)

Each box contains one of these epic wines. The odds vary per wine, but each one is a centrepiece wine, worthy of some truly special occasions.

We should say up front: there are no returns on this - click here for case terms and conditions. As it’s a Lucky Dip, it would be unfair to other mofos running in the draw.

The easiest way to guarantee to get a bottle of Grange is to go out and buy one for yourself. If you, like me, don’t have $1000 handy, this is definitely your best (and cheapest) option! Heard enough already? Pop that case in the cart and cross your fingers and toes! Otherwise, read on for a bit more info on all those lovely wines:

2x Byron & Harold Gravity Shiraz 2019

Red — Shiraz

Australia — Australia

Dark, deep ruby red in the glass - this wine announces its serious intentions before you even lift it to your nose. And what a nose it is: dense, dark fruits cascade through dense plum and forest berries, lifted by distinctive black pepper and anise spice that adds complexity without overwhelming the pure fruit expression. The palate delivers everything the aromatics promise and more. Excellent fruit concentration meets perfect balance and genuine elegance - that rare combination that separates good wines from genuinely memorable ones. Juicy fresh acidity cuts through beautifully, while the gentle tannin profile ensures this drinks beautifully now while promising years of evolution ahead - because great winemaking never goes out of style.

2x Hollick Red Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Estate fruit from the famed Hollick vineyards in Coonawarra, this is cab sauv like Aussies know and love. Certainly, a little bit of age behind this number has helped to fill out the mid palate, making it rich and dense with threads of fennel and mint throughout. It's very hard not to enjoy this wine- and we're speaking from experience.

2x Farmer's Leap Random Shot Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Padthaway — Australia

From a little-known corner of South Australia (completely covered in ex-Grange vineyards) comes this exceptional value shiraz. It’s absolutely jam-packed with stewed fruit, chocolate and liquorice. Ripe and delicious flavour that packs a real punch is carried on the back of bright acidity, lifting blackberries, bramble, black cherry and prosciutto notes alike to a long and delectable finish. This has to be up there in terms of best value buys. Whether you’re shopping for a pantry-stocking quaffer or something to share with the family over Sunday lunch, this is a great value contender with a foot in both camps.

You’d pay $22 full price.

2x Fox Creek Maslin Sands Red Blend 2021

Red — Shiraz Blend

South Australia — Australia

A cabernet sauvignon-driven blend of four varietals across multiple vintages - this is winemaking strategy at its smartest. By blending the best parcels from different varieties, the winemaker has created consistency without compromise: a go-to beauty that delivers big, bold character bottle after bottle. This is red wine for people who know what they want: power, depth, and unapologetic flavour intensity. Packed with berries and cocoa, it hits that sweet spot where fruit meets sophistication. Dark cherry, leather, tar, and blackberry create layers of complexity, while smooth tannins and balanced acidity ensure this wine drinks beautifully right now.

1x Terra Vino Shiraz 2023

Red — Shiraz

Langhorne Creek — Australia

Mid-week, midnight, mid-meeting - there's no situation that's not going to be elevated by a glass of this stunner. It was basically impossible not to make outstanding wine in 2023, and you can taste the depth of flavour and fruit intensity with every sip. Deep purple and deeply delicious. This Langhorne Creek shiraz brings all the fruit and then some; dark berries, black cherries, floral spice and a lick of chocolate leap from the glass. On the palate, it’s plush and powerful, with that fruit that carries all the way through to a long, seamless finish. Balanced and bold, this is the kind of wine that just works - particularly with Italian food (thank us later).

Wild Card Wine #1

Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2018

South Australia

100pts Andrew Caillard MW | 100pts Tony Love | 100pts James Suckling | 100pts Lisa Perrotti-Brown | 100pts Ken Garget

“A robust Grange from a lauded vintage, this wields sheer power with such compelling prowess. Uncompromising Grange. There are rich blackberries and plums on offer, together with brazen oak and abundant notes of blackcurrants, black cherries, charcoal, cola and hard brown spices. So fleshy and intense. Dark-chocolate and cocoa-powder aromas and flavors here, too. The tannins are polished and long, extruding deep into the finish and holding endlessly. Dark chocolate, black cherry, dark plum and more. Impressive. Brazen. One of the great Granges that will drink magnificently for decades to come.” - James Suckling

“Deep colour. Beautiful and classic with intense blackberry, blackcurrant dark chocolate espresso aromas and wax polish, roasted chestnut, malt notes. Superbly concentrated wine with deep set inky blackberry, blackcurrant, dark plum, dark chocolate mocha flavours, fine chocolaty/ velvety tannins, underlying espresso, malt, oak notes and hints of aniseed. Finishes chocolaty firm with superbly integrated acidity and mineral length. A glorious year for Grange. This will last 50 years at least. Wonderful. One of the greatest vintages of all time highlighting a superb growing season, marvellous vineyard management, the fidelity of the Penfolds housemaking style and generations of imagination and effort. 97% Shiraz, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Clare Valley. 18 months maturation in 100% new American oak hogsheads. Drink 2030-2060+” - Andrew caillard

“A much-awaited vintage that fulfils expectations and then some. It has all the elements that you come to expect but still you have to sit back and marvel that so much can be going on inside one wine. Firstly, it simply ain’t Grange unless it is wearing its traditional American oak coat, and this iteration isn’t going to shy away from that. But perhaps it is the generosity across the board of South Australia’s 2018 vintage that gathers in 18 months of barrel maturation, puts shape to its broad-shouldered dark fruits, turns oak notes into chocolate and sarsaparilla characters on one side of the brain and beef and mushroom braise in the other. All in all, it is a fabulous balance of inputs: big fruit, classically prominent oak, all its structural tannins and acidity fitting cleverly into one exceptionally complex and engaging being. Palate length is indefinite, perhaps suggesting similar cellaring potential well into the second half of the 21st century. Magnificent.” Ken Garget, Wine Pilot

Chateau Yaldara 1847 Grand Pappy's Shiraz 2021

Barossa Valley, SA

97pts Ray Jordan | 97pts Sam Kim | 95pts Ken Gargett, Wine Pilot | 4.3 Vivino (All Vintages) | 9/10 Halliday Rated Vintage| Five Stars Wine Orbit

We all know the Barossa, and likely this icon of a wine, but do we really know it’s history? Introducing to you pioneers of this famed region, with this winery established over 150 years ago. They show no mercy when it comes to staying true to the region: meaty, bold, and focused reds with a whole lot of character. You know what we’re talking about: eye-catching hues of purple, soft and silky tannins, and more plummy goodness than you can poke a stick at. There’s cherry and rhubarb sure, but we’re talking unapologetic notes of chocolate, toasty oak and handfuls of freshly cracked pepper. It’s a showstopper, and built to impress even the most discerning of critics - as evidenced by its, not one but two, 97pt reviews.

St Hallet Sacred Ground Shiraz 2022

Barossa Valley, SA

94pts Ken Gargett Wine Pilot | 4.0 Vivino (All Vintages) | Five Red Star Halliday Rated Winery| 9/10 Vintage Halliday Wine Companion | Iconic Producer | Killer Vintage

There is no mistaking a St Hallett classic - when it comes to shiraz, and when it comes to Barossa, they don't muck about. The Sacred Ground is an old favourite among the 'big and bold' faithful, and this iteration is no departure from that well earned reputation. Rich, ripe, chocolate, earthy and opulent. Little hints of cedar and tobacco sit deftly around determined, full throttle fruit density. St Hallett at their best - unashamedly broad and imposing while remaining stylish, complex, and relinquishing no ground when it comes to sophistication.

Wild Card Wine #4

Ivyburn Regional Series Barossa Shiraz 2021

Barossa, SA

95pts Wine Orbit | Killer Vintage | Five Stars Wine Orbit

From the sloping foot hills of the Barossa ranges comes a big, bad, bustling, Barossa beauty. The old vines of the site create slow-ripened, small bunches of shiraz grapes rich with concentrated black and dark red fruits. A deeply layered wine with fragrant American oak, hints of black pepper spice and enduring, yet fine-grained tannins. The sheer intensity of flavour puts this wine in a really good spot to reward aging for 10+ years but, as we always say, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Drink it whenever you want, why needlessly deprive yourself of this kind of happiness...
